| Coming back on the famous fields of Old Trafford, Beckham set himself as a starting line-up player. He immediatly adjusted himself on the speed and tactical play of Man Utd. It was unbelievable that he was so mature for a player. His fitness was incredible and so were his crosses and shots. And he gave the final answer to the question �Who is David Beckham?` when he struck a ball from his own half at Selhurst Park against Wimdledon 1993, which hit the back of the net magically. | At Manchester United he did wonderfully well and Beckham became famous off the fields as well. Being married with Victoria wasn�t such a good idea, not only because she was ugly, but because it angered Sir Alex Ferguson with years to come. Beckham even became a fashion-model off the fields and this was really too much for Fergie. But Beckham always showed that whatever happens outside the fields has no effect on his play. He knocked out Chelsea with a free-kick and David Beckham really became one of the young heroes at Man Utd. The World Cup 1998 was Beckham�s first real international test. He made the World Cup debut against Columbia. And he made a beautiful trademark free-kick to show Glenn Hoddle, one of Becks idols, that he is worth of being in the England line-up. He also started against Argentina, where he made two assists. But then it happened. Beckham was tackled from behind and fell on the ground. Though, he kicked Diego Simeone and was sent off after that. England lost that match with penalties and it was blamed on Becks. He went from hero to villain. The press was full of it and so were the �fans`. Beckham became one of the most hated players ever. But somehow, someway, Beckham again took nothing of it. Manchester United won the famous Treble in 1998/1999, with David Beckham as the best player of the year. His corners in injury-time at Nou Camp against Bayer Munich in the UEFA Champions League final, were finished off as goals. In Euro 2000, Beckham was in inspiring form and helped England to get points, making ALL OF THE ASSISTS, though, this was not appreciated by the �fans` England was knocked out later anyway. David Beckham was awarded European best player and also 2nd best of the World. And now Beckham was set for the ultimate test; Leading England through the World Cup qualifiers. And he did it as no one could do. Scoring 4 goals in that campaing and giving inspiration to the team, Beckham proved to be a real captain, even if he was only 26 years old. Then, of course, came the Greece Free-Kick in the 93rd minute at Old Trafford. Beckham shot England to the World Cup 2002 and finally he got the respect he deserved. He also avenged Argentina by knocking them out of the World Cup. Now Beckham is being chased by big clubs such Real Madrid and AC Milan, but Beckhams love for Man Utd is incredible and as he said �I don�t want to leave`, he is still a Red Devil. | David Beckham is probably the best midfielder ever. Everyone knows he has the best cross in the world, with it�s unlimited accuracy and curve. And so have his free-kicks. Beckham doesn�t shoot only with power, but he concentrates more on precision, which is why he has the most beautiful free-kicks. Beckham plays at the right. But he cuts inside often and even goes on the left when things get bad. He has great fitness and can really be the maestro off the field. He usually plays averagely but when the pressure and stakes are high, he plays phenomenal. He always shows determination and since two years ago, stays really calm. He has great ballcontrol and creativity and skill and is one of the most intelligent football players ever. He has got an incredible sight of the game, which really helps him being a captain. His defensive skills are his weak spots, but can sometimes really surprise you. But for his attacking skills, there is no question that he is one of the best, or maybe he is the best. |
