I often day dream about wakling in a beautiful garden with tall trees and a colorful aray of flowers, and theres a quiet stream that sneaks its way through the beautiful scenery. Here nothing can find me and I don't have any expectations or standards to live up to. Here I am free. Unfortunately that's just a place in my dreams. In reality, the world binds us to its ways. We have to be beautiful, smart, athletic, successful, rich, and worst of all we have to want all that so badly that we jeporadize who we really are. We no longer desire to be ourselves, but we long to be that pretty, airbrushed face on the cover of a magazine. It's difficult to come to God when in this situation because he's no longer our hearts desire. We have too much pride and too much false confidence. The world tells us we don't need God and we learn to believe those lies. We begin to breath and take in everything materialistic and sinful instead of breathing and taking in the pure love of Christ. |
