| Sandalphon Length: 75 meters (estimated) Weight: 45,000 tons (estimated) Powers: Able to thrive in scorching temperatures. Sandalphon is incredibly fast when submerged in molten rock. The Angel's carapace is extremely thick. Sandalphon possesses an AT-Field. Sandalphon is able to deploy tentacles to constrain an opponent. History: An Angel embryo was located deep inside a volcano. The possibility of capturing a live Angel for study aroused NERV's interests. A plan was created for Eva Unit 02 to be lowered deep in the heart of the volcano, and implement an electromagnetic sheath to capture the Angel. Should the worst occur, the United Nations was standing by, ready to eradicate the Angel and the Evas before another catastrophe could occur. All went well, until the Angel started to hatch and it grew to an enormous state in only a few seconds. Instead of trying to preserve the Angel, the mission was switched to elect the Angel's annihilation. Eva Unit 02 was ordered to destroy it. It proved difficult, after learning of its incredibly thick hide. In order to defeat the Angel, Asuka, Unit 02's pilot, used physics; Unit 02 jammed its coolant deep inside Sandalphon's mouth and changed the Angel's molecular structure, simply by using thermal expansion. It made the Angel weaker, weak enough to be unable to withstand the Eva's progressive knife. And so the Angel known as Sandalphon was vanquished. Evangelion Unit 02 was eventually saved by Unit 01. Fighting Power: *** It is difficult to decide exactly how Sandalphon would fair against an opponent. It isn't exactly known if Sandalphon can operate outside a volcano. But in regards to the Angel's potency, it was average at best. Sandalphon's thick carapace proved to be impressive. Not even a progressive knife could penetrate it. Sandalphon's speed in molten rock would come in handy, but it is unknown if it can operate outside of lava. Change of temperatures can influence its molecular structure, so even if Sandalphon left the confines of a volcano, it may be influenced by the outside world. Its AT-Field is also questionable, its strength unknown. With a hard carapace, its AT-Field might be weak. Sandalphon's hand-to-hand combat skills are lacking. The Angel's strategies consist mainly on deploying its tentacles and devour its enemy with its jaws. This strategy is proficient to a degree, but ultimately futile. Sandalphon's tentacles do possess enough strength to detain its target, but without any other means of attack or weapons at its disposal, this Angel receives an average rating. |
