| SINGLE PLAYER MODE Where the Versus and Melee modes were pretty much the entire first game, they're only 20%-30% of this one. The game designers have created a huge, robust story mode for the single-player game. The Action Mode is the core of the single player game and plays out in an Onimusha-like fashion in which the story helps to set up the battles that youll encounter as Godzilla. Roughly twelve levels will make up the Action mode with locations like Tokyo, Los Angeles, and New York. At the beginning of the one player game the player follows Japanese submarines. At the end of each level youll be scored on how well youve completed objectives, how many enemies destroyed, etc. Score well and youll be awarded with upgrade tokens that will allow you to purchase attribute upgrades, moves, or hidden content like fan art, behind the scenes footage, and info on the upcoming Godzilla: Final Wars film. In an interview with Atari Brand manager Scott McCarthy posted by GameSpot on 8/16/04 he confirms that the upgrade tokens remain a part of the game, shooting down internet rumors to the contrary. MULTIPLAYER GAMEPLAY The game will include Xbox Live and PS2 online play for up to four gamers. Player will be able to go head-to-head, three- or four-player free-for-all, or team up for two-on-two combat. You will be able to take monsters enhanced with upgrade tokens online to battle against the amplified monsters of other players. There are also many unlockable characters, power-ups, game modes and levels for the multiplayer game. The 20 Multiplayer maps include Monster Island, San Francisco, New York, The Ring (a battle arena), Tokyo, Osaka, and the alien's mothership. City levels can be played at day or night. Some of the levels will be unlockable and have more, secret areas. Players will also be able to change the color of their Kaiju in multiplayer. The multiplayer game has also been expanded to include new types of games, like Vorillium ball (a riff on hockey) and a timed capture mode, where you have to imprison three monsters in energy traps that will only hold them for 120 seconds. |
