This holiday among all, is probably the most significant to today's Christians. It has not been lost in the fanfair of Santa Claus, and worldly hype. It is the one day that is set aside to be thankful. No gifts are given, no costumes adorn. It is a day for family to come together and be reminded of the warmth of loved ones, and the provision that God has blessed upon us.

A Little History
Although we think of the last Thursday in the month of November as Thanskgiving Day, the original day declared "Thanksgiving Day" was celebrated on February 22,1630. There had been feasts of thanksgiving noted before this time, but no particular day set aside for this. The new settlers in Plymouth Massachusetts were celebrating the fact that they had come through another winter in the new land. More than that, they were celebrating their spiritual freedom, which was a big incentive to come to the new land. Let us remember and preserve this freedom. There was much to strive for in the many years to come to gain complete freedom from the mother land, but this was a very important time and step in history.

Incidently, popcorn was also discovered on this day!
