a melancholy memory of innocence degraded
all i've seen throughout the years has left me cold and jaded
the brightly colored happiness of long ago is faded
abased before your filthy altar, beaten down, prostrated
attacked through all these years, the TV tells me what to think
a falsehood thrown in front of me each time i dare to blink
time and time again into these boundless depths i sink
the truth's so hard to swallow but these lies so hard to drink

turning on the TV set
a whore for all the earth
get's you off so easily
but costs more than it's worth
you heard it on the TV so you know it must be true
you never knew what to believe, you don't know what to do
you needed words of guidance and the TV came right through
you found your salvation from the 10 o'clock news crew

watching, now you're hypnotized, commercials tear right in
they tell you what you need to buy, they get under your skin
another catchy jingle is so quickly thrown your way
bombarded by a thousand lies with every single day
you watch them as they cram it all into your waiting heads
this television zealotry will leave the world braindead
we cannot be controlled by images formed on a screen
we cannot sacrifice our minds unto this god obscene

turning on the TV set
a whore for all the earth
get's you off so easily
but costs more than it's worth
you heard it on the TV so you know it must be true
you never knew what to believe, you don't know what to do
you needed words of guidance and the TV came right through
you found your salvation from the 10 o'clock news crew
