I don't want to offend anyone in here, but I was just wondering whether Davenport is gay, I've just heard rumours about her and wondered if anyone had any knowledge on the subject.

ARG!!! What is it with people and speculating "is so and so gay?"

WHO CARES if she is gay...does it make a difference to how she plays tennis??? NO... so just let her be her...if she wants to come out, then leave it up to her to come out.

and just for the record NO I don`t think she is...but IF she is...good luck to her!

I doubted! Didn't she commented on Mauresmo last year? (from what I've read). Didn't she later apologize. I don't think she's a lesbian but if she is, she can't change that.

This topic seems to keep coming up.
She will always be my favorite regardless.
For the record, I dont think she is, but if she is it really makes no difference to me.

GO LINDSAY!!!!!!!!

how could you speculate on if she's gay?
what are the rumours hint that she's gay?
i've never heard anyone question her?

i don't think she is gay at all!

What a silly question. As griffin so rightly pointed out, there are no gay women anywhere in the world above the height of 6'0.4".

(Someone else can give the metric conversion)

That's 183.896 cm (or 183,896 cm for you non-English-speakers).

Gallofa, how to explain... my hair is straight and cut very short and I don't curl it at all, so it looks like a man's haircut. Lindsay has nice thick hair and keeps it short, I would guess because it's easy to take care of, and I think her hair looks great, anyway she has some curl to her hair, which makes me jealous. But a lot of uninformed people think a short cut like this is "butch" , so Lindsay must be gay. I saw a photo of her in a black mini with high heels and she looked terrific in definitely non-sensible shoes.
I didn't know there were height estictions on being a lesbian... are there size restrictions on gay males?

I think that many of the WNBA players are gay. They are very tall. Anyway, I don't know if Lindsay D. is gay or not. I have questioned about her from time to time from little things I have seen. However, I kept it to myself. I think that if she is then she may be the only one on earth who knows. Maybe she is, maybe she isn't.

She has expressed a desire to get married and have a family, plus I believe she takes Christianity seriously. Although not conclusive, these two things indicate that she is not gay.

It's only human nature to speculate on the subject. It totally doesn't affect the way i feel about her...she will always be my fav! I doubt very seriously that she is...
I didn't know she was a christian...that's really cool

You are contradicting yourself a little tia clara, first you said your hair's gay and now you're saying its straight!

Oh, darn. Well, my hair isstraight, as opposed to curly, but it's cut very short, so it's gay. Actually it's not very gay, it hates being uncurly, and it punishes me every chance it can get.

We should be allowed to conttradict ourselves once a day, yes?

I heard from someone who knew someone who had a friend who lives near her in Southern California, and she saw Lindsay once on the street, and she was alone. The answer is obvious!

This is a funny question 'cause it's not like we're actually gonna know the answer to it.

Is Lindsay gay?
Lindsay has always maintained that she's a happy girl, happy with her game and happy with her life the way it is.

Has Lindsay ever kissed another woman?
I'm sure her mom used to kiss her goodnight when she was little.

thanks, tia clara... although this is a confusing concept...

Ok, so, we have deduced the following things so far :
1. No gay woman can be taller than 6 feet (unless she plays basketball, that is an exception to the rule)-- and if she's taller than that, she better walk hunch-back style.
2. Any woman commenting on Mauresmo is probably not gay (unless, of course, the comment is along the lines of: "gosh, she's hot!")
3. Gay hair is straight.
4. Only happy looking woman can be gay.
5. Somehow, being gay has something to do with wearing sensible shoes (or the other way around, who knows )
6. Butch and goffy don't mix well.
7. I you are serious you are probably not gay (if you are a serious christian... well, I won't get into religion).
8. If someone walks through Southern California ALONE, you just know whether they are gay or not.
9. Mothers kissing daughters when they were little is an unconclusive prove of sexual orientation.

SO, the answer should be obvious!!

Women Pro volley-ball players are very tall also, can they be gay? and they play their sport wearing very brief bikinis, showing off their bodies to all and sundry, what does this mean?

if i had a body like Gabrielle's, i'd show it off, too

Gabrielle is a pro-volleyball player and was on TV here a lot during the Olympics. Networks LOVE sports where the players are tall, pretty females wearing very small bikinis. Oops, did I mention that this is beach volley-ball? ESPN shows a lot of their competions also, I think it's something to do with managerial testosterone. I don't think the managers at ESPN are gay, but I don't know about the volley-ball players...they hug each other a lot after good shots and wins and all that stuff. Is there a ruling on this? There is NO fanny-patting in beach volley-ball.

oh! ok! Another idea then:

10. Male/Male and Female/Female ass-patting and hugging is a dead giveaway

Beach-Volley ball doesn't get much coverage over here... I wonder why?

Gallofa, are TV network managers in Spain muy macho? because some of the ladies who play beach volley-ball are incredible. The whole Brazilizn team looked like Miss World winners. Watching it is fun, it's a very fast sport, but I was either very jealous or having a BIG problem with gender identity.

I'd say they have latent homosexual tendencies, because they only show men -- no scantly clad woman -- We get a lot of motorcycles (after all, we have two world champions), cars (there's always Carlos Sainz *almost* winning... poor man), football (a LOT of football), basketball, cycling, volley-ball (now that one of the princess married a volley-ball player ), and, tennis ... but never women -- only Arantxa and Conchita in tennis.

Now, I remember about the beach volley-ball in the 96 Olympics... I remember cause the commentators were soooo amused that such a sport was an Olympic sport, and kept saying not much of a sport, BUT, look at the girls people!

Gallofa, is the weather in Madrid good enough that we could continue this discussion over a glass of Rioja at a table in the Plaza Mayor? I feel the need to sit for a while. Beach volley-ball is a tiring sport.

Everyone seems to have missed the point that Lindsay can be a man's name, so that again tells you what you need to know.

But, Jelena4Me, why do we need to know?
Fanny-patting is a series of pats on the tush, bum, bottom, derriere, gluteus maximus, rear; very popular amongst American football players( not sure about Canadian football players) and always between men...men who try to fanny-pat women are liable to get an elbow jammed into a sensitive area. At least that was my reaction whenever it was tried on me. Women tend to stick to high-fives or hugs, neither of which indicates sexual preferences, whether they are short or tall.
