| Years ago with feelings of 'not belonging' she had left the safety of the old Imperial Prison. During her absence many changes had been wrought upon the old complex, along with many new faces going in and out of the complex. As she lived her life secluded from every one else she had grown physically stronger than she had been when she had first arrived on this planet. Thinking of that day always brought back unwanted and unreal dreams like that of the one she had had just several minutes ago. Shaking her head and running her fingers through her sweat soaked hair, Gethzerion rose from her pallet in the cave. She walked to the mouth of the cave and gazed at the wonderfully bright sunset off to her right. She sat on the boulder nature had placed at the caves entrance and watched the forest below her come alive. During this quiet time was when she tried to remember the dreams that plagued her. The dark man. The woman screaming. A baby's cry. Blackness. None of those images or sounds made any sense to Gethzerion. She knew somehow that they should but she couldn't understand them. The dark man in her dreams was powerful - of that she was sure. There was anger eminating from him in many of her dreams. There were faces of children in her dreams. They looked so familar to her. Yet, the only person they resembled to her was the dark man in the dream. Who were they - the children and this dark man? Gethzerion shook her head again attempting to clear the images from in front of her eyes. Ghost images. That thought made her grin. She stood and walked back into her cave dwelling, gathering spear and knife. Time to find food. **************** Night************** After a long day of hunting, skining the animal for its hide, and then the other everyday chores she had, Gethzerion was tired. She tried to keep herself busy to the point of total exhaustion. It was the only way she could lie down and fall instantly to sleep with no dreams. But tonight was not to be one of those nights. She did fall to sleep quickly after she closed her eyes; however, the dream started almost immediately. ~~~~~~~ A hallway was before her. She knew she was walking but she did not know where. She could hear voices. The dark man was in one of these rooms. The urge to find him was almost overwhelming. Room after room was empty. Finally smells came to her. Food, but not the kind she knew. She kept walking. She put her hand to one door, to push it open. Surprisingly, her hand went straight through the door. She pulled her hand back in astonishment. Smiling, she tried it again. An evil glint in her eye, she literally walked through the door in front of her. A long wooden table set with an elegant dinner. Tension filled the air in this room. She stayed in the corner by the door, feeling safe in the shadows. The dark man was here as were two of the children, now grown it seemed, from her dreams. There was another lady, but she did not recognize her. She felt safe in this room with these people. Why? Who were they? She felt it when the young lady turned to stare into the corner. "Mother?" came the surprised thought. The young lady had not spoke, but Gethzerion could hear her wild thoughts. Gethzerion was surprised to be called that. She did not know these people. "Who are you?" Geth asked the girl out loud. Every head at the table turned to look to Geth's hiding place. No, Geth thought. They must not see me. Fear enveloped Geth and she started backing toward the door. |
