BEWARE OF SPOILER!!!
In my opinion, Left Behind: The Kids are probably one of the best teen series ever created. They
really changed my life. And they have everything a Christian teenager wants in a series.
Christianity, Action, Truth, Friendship, Love, and even a little bit of Romance.
These books are about four kids who were left behind when the Rapture occured. For those who
don't know what the Rapture is, I'll tell you. The Rapture is when Jesus comes back and some day
He will. He'll come and all the Christians and children will be taken back to heaven. Even the
Christians who had died years before the Rapture will be taken. All of a sudden people will be
missing, even the people in the graves (you can read about that in Matthew 24:30-31;
1 Corinthians 15:51-55) The Rapture occurs in book one, the books following it is about the seven
year Tribulation and how the kids will survive it.
These books begin with Judd Thompson, Vicki Byrne, Lionel Washington, and Ryan Daley.
Judd was a rich boy who was raised in a Christian home all his life. He had two happily
married parents and he had a younger brother and a younger sister. When Judd was younger he went
to church and Vacation Bible school, but as he got older he got away from church. Judd thought
church was for the goody-goodies and didn't want to be apart of it. Then he decided to run away,
thinking they were all too hard on him and he felt smothered. Well, he was on a plane to England
when the Rapture happened.
Vicki was a poor girl and lived in a trailer park. Her family weren't always Christians. Her
father denied God and her Mother used to be a Christian, but wasn't anymore. Vicki's younger
sister is a very nice little girl. Vicki is a rebel and thinks it cool to drink and swear and
wear leather and any kind of revealing clothes. Then one night, a Christian visited the trailer
park and her family (all except her) became Christians. They did just about everything to help
Vicki become a Christian, but she wanted to keep her old life. Then one night after a drinking
binge, she returned home and in the morning she noticed the Rapture occured.
Lionel was a middle class boy, whose parents were Christians and all his brothers and sisters
were too. Lionel enjoyed church, but he had a dark secret that he only shared with his Uncle; he
wasn't a Christian. He just faked it. One night the Rapture occured and he woke and realized his
whole family, except his uncle, were gone. Unlike the others, Lionel was more familiar with the
Bible and knew more about what happened.
Ryan was an only child and his parents weren't Christians. They never went to church so he wasn't
a Christian either. But his best friend Raymie told him all about Jesus; Ryan thought Raymie
was crazy. He didn't except what Raymie said. So on the night of the Rapture, he wasn't taken and
neither were his parents. Ryan's father died in a plane crash when the Rapture occured. And his
mother died in an explosion.
After the Rapture the four kids met up with Paster Bruce and he told them what happened.
Eventually all four became Christians and lived there lives for God. They ministered to others,
telling them what happened and what to do if they wanted to become Christians. They even came up
with an underground newspaper called "The Underground". The four befriended Mark and John and
Vicki was even able to minister to her best friend Shelly. As the judgements of the tribulation
progressed, they helped and befriended more and more people.
Left Behind: The Kids is a spin off of the adult series. The kids don't appear in the adult
series but the adults from the adult series do appear in the kids series. Well, Lionel does
appear in the first book, Left Behind, but he has a minor role. You can find him talking with
Buck on page 69. You can find the same conversation in the Kids series in book 1 called, "The
Vanishings". It's on page 118.
Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim Lahaye wrote the first six kids books. Now Chris Fabry, under Jerry B.
Jenkins' supervision, writes them. You can buy these books at any local books stores, Christian
books stores, and online at Amazon
