Dear Friends,
Yesterday I was reading my Bible and came across this very touching verse: "If man curses his father or mother his lamp will be snuffed out in pitch darkness." {Proverbs 20:20 NIV}
One of the most important commandments are "honor thy Mother and thy Father." And when I read this I remembered all the time I have sassed to my Mother and Father and treated them with disrespect.
Then I came upon this other passage while doing my "STRAIGHT" devotional as well. Galatians 5:17-23 says {NIV}, "For the sinful nature desires what is the contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under such law. The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissentions, factions, and envy; drunkeness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against things there is no law."
So I thought that every one needs to grow and the non-fruit of the Spirit is something we don't need. But the fruit of the Spirit every Christian needs to grow.
Pray for all of these needs. You'll need every single one on the list to grow as a Christian.
Things Not to Do -- Galatians 5:19-21God Does not like this behavior. Please pray about your flaw as I am doing and just pray for forgiveness.
Also please write this on two pieces of paper and place them on your refrigerator and that will remind you to pray every day. And there is no certain time to pray. God always wants to hear from you.
If you are interested in getting the Fruits of the Spirit, all you have to do is to pray for them. Remember to read your Bible too. One of the best ways of learning about something is probably to continue to read about it. So go whip out the Bible of yours and get started!!! Just kidding!!!
But seriously, to get the Fruit of the Spirit you need to pray daily for it and then you will begin to grow as a Christian!
