Blackburn Rovers: Seaon Preview. Here we venture into the new season. So what are the realistic expectations? Well if we can again achieve the 6th placed finish a few fans would be happy, but most would love to see us go on to bigger and better things. Our poor European Record could do with significant improvement as 1 win from some 14 games is not good enough. Hopefully the draw will be kind and inject confidence into the side so that we can go on to do better things, and hopefully manage a good run. New blood has been brought in to replace the losses of Duffer and Dunny, and Emerton especially looks and excellent prospect, and will be a great aspect for the team, and not to make an early prediction, possibly our player of the season. He will also contibute a few goals. Hopefully superBrad will be in top form (Undoubtedly). Lorenzo Amoruso will be a top quality player for Rovers and will weigh in with a few goals with possibly a few from free kicks. Steven Reid will also be a quality player for the team as well, and we can hope for big things from the Republic of Ireland international. Souness is also looking to the future by signing young German-American Goalkeeper David Yelldell from Stuttgart Kickers following the retirement of Alan Miller and release of Ryan Robinson, making Friedel and Kelly the only two senior keepers. Last season, we had a very good season, 6th place finish, qualifying for europe and we also reached the League Cup Semi-finals, after winning the cup the previous season. Speaking of youngsters, Paul Gallagher may feature more this season and some of the other young players may be loaned out to gain more expierience (Perhaps: Jerome Watt, Ian Black, Ciaran Donnelly, Michael Cole and Jemal Johnson) There is also the possibility of Rovers draughting in more players, Rovers being short in the Central Midfielders department and centre back department as well. If Cole and Yorke can bag twenty a-piece there is absolutley no reason that Rovers can not break the top six, and let's not forget Matt Jansen who will be like a new sigining. It will be great to see if Thommo can get a full season under his belt too. With Duff being last season's overall top scorer we need more from our strikers this time around. All in all though, the season looks very bright indeed. Last Season >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Main menu |
