Exercise
is Good for your Skin

Regular
exercise brings numerous health benefits. It increases metabolism,
reduces risk of heart disease and stroke, lowers blood pressure, helps you lose
weight, boosts immune system, reduces stress and anxiety, improves concentration
and energy levels and keeps your blood pumping. Aside from all these, working
out can do wonders to your skin. .
Benefits to the skin
Regular exercise is essential to overall health,
making it a major factor to our skin's health too. Exercise helps make your skin
look fresh with a healthy, rosy glow by boosting your circulation, bringing
oxygen and nutrients to all the cells in the body including the skin. It also
helps counteract signs of aging. Muscle mass shrinks at an average of 10-12%
between ages 30 and 65. This reduces muscle tissue that acts as an anchor and
support to the skin. Having less muscle will make it easier to gain weight.
Every pound of muscle mass in the body burns 30 calories a day, losing the
muscle leaves more calories to turn into unwanted pounds. Being active will help
burn more calories efficiently and maintain a good amount of muscle tissue,
making your skin more firm and lose the excess pounds. Sweating due to exercise
can be a means of removing toxins to cleanse the body.
Before you begin
-
Keep it up if you're exercising regularly. For those
who are starting an exercising regimen, especially those who are not athletic,
here are some tips to get you started.
-
Consult
your doctor before embarking on a new exercise program, particularly those with
health conditions.
-
Set realistic goals. Results should be slow, but
gradual. Overdoing it will leave you sore and discouraged.
-
Exercise doesn't always mean an expensive gym
membership. Engaging in sports or activities like yoga, dance or any activity
that you enjoy will make you forget that you're actually exercising.
-
One of the easiest ways to start is by walking more
often. You can take the stairs if you're going 1-2 stories up or down or walk
instead of drive in short distances. Slowly increase the duration of your walks
when you get more comfortable.
-
Try incorporating more activity to your daily life.
Stand up and walk around while talking on the phone or watching TV.
Remember that a balanced diet, regular physical
activity and a good skin care regimen can become your skin's best friends.

Caring for your Skin during
Exercise
While
exercise is good for you and your
skin, there is still a need to
proceed with caution to avoid
any damage or injury.
-
Wear a
sports or support bra during
exercise. This makes exercising
more comfortable.
-
Choose
a bra with seamless cups. Constant
rubbing will make nipples sore
causing jogger's nipple. Apply
petroleum jelly over them before
exercising to prevent chapping.
Better yet, use
Godiva
LicoWhite Lip Gloss. It
will smoothen and lighten nipples
and lips, giving it a pinkish
tinge.
-
Use
proper shoes and socks for your
preferred activity and replace
them regularly. It will help avoid
fungal infections like athlete's
foot or corns and calluses caused
by ill-fitting shoes.
-
Rehydrate with water while
exercising so you won't feel
dehydrated.
-
Remember to shower or bathe after
exercising to clean off
accumulated sweat and dirt.
-
Buy
good-fitting exercise clothes to
avoid skin chafing, especially on
the thighs or back.
-
Use
separate towels. One for wiping
off sweat and the other for
bathing.
-
Use a
high factor, broad spectrum
sunscreen especially when
exercising outdoors like
Godiva
Green Tea Sunblock Cream.
