Send in your skin dilemmas and let Godiva's Skin Care Counselor give you first-hand advice on what to do and which skin care products to best use. Just write a short letter and send it to [email protected].

Q. Dear Skin Care Counselor,

I use baby oil on my skin, so I want to know if I should apply Godiva lotion first, then the oil, and then the sunscreen. Can I also apply your sunscreen on my face for protection? Or is it only good for the body? And also how many shades lighter will I get? For the Godiva Licorice Whitening Cream, can I use it under my make-up?

Thank you.

--Lucette Sauveur, Florida, USA

A. Dear Lucette,

You may apply the Godiva lotion first, let it be absorbed in your skin, then after about 5 minutes you can apply baby oil, followed by sunscreen.

Godiva Green Tea Sunblock Cream is formulated for the face and neck, and can be applied on all exposed body parts. It is important that you apply sunblock on your face DAILY as well.

You may apply make-up after the Godiva Licorice Whitening Cream and after the sunblock. Just allow 5 to 10 minutes between applications.

Moreover, you can expect to get 1 to 2 shades lighter skin by following the Godiva regimen with utmost dedication. Remember to avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun.

Yours truly,

Skin Care Counselor

Avoiding "Smoker's Face"

Smoker's Face is a condition caused by deep, premature wrinkles, and skin discoloration caused by cigarette smoking. Smoking is found to hasten and aggravate the physical signs of aging on the skin.

Crow's feet, which are wrinkles formed at the outer edges of the eyes, including sallow, pale skin around the eyelids are also linked to cigarette smoking. This may be caused by constricted blood flow to the eyelid and squinting to protect the eyes from the drifting smoke from a cigarette stick.

Aside from creating wrinkles on the face, cigarettes contain nicotine which may diminish the body's blood flow and prevent the necessary oxygen in blood cells from reaching the skin.

The best way to avoid smoker's face is to quit smoking. This is also the best approach to avoid other health conditions associated with smoking.
