Q.
Dear Skin Care Counselor,
Since
I (previously) experienced a bad case of skin irritation from using AHAs
(Alpha-Hydroxy Acids), I have been afraid of using anything containing AHA.
Everytime my skin exfoliates, it usually develops hyperpigmentation. Therefore,
I have the following questions:
1. Do you think I can safely
use the
Godiva Fruit Acid Revitalizing
Complex? I wonder if you could tell me by applying the
Godiva Licorice
Whitening Cream without the AHA, will it help fade away the
hyperpigmentation?
2. I think my
hyperpigmentation's already under the dermal layer, and it looks like a pretty
severe case too. Keeping that in mind, do you think
Godiva Licorice Whitening
Cream will effectively help my case? If so, how long do I have to use it
before I see the results?
3. Could you explain to me what
the "PA+++" stands for in the
Godiva Green Tea Sunblock Cream?
Since I am already using zinc oxide sunscreen, can I use any other zinc oxide
sunscreen with the Godiva Whitening products?
--Sung S., Kansas, USA
A. Dear
Sung,
Godiva Fruit Acid
Revitalizing Complex works unlike other AHA creams found in the market. It
contains a mild percent of AHA which is enough to provide your skin with
more than the benefits of other extensive treatments.
It
also has a unique TRS (Time-Release System) that helps minimize skin
irritation with no visible peeling. Its Green Tea Extract is also known
to be a good skin anti-irritant, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory agent.
However, if you believe you
have a tendency to develop irritation to using AHA, you may opt for a patch test
first by applying the cream over the small area of your skin then observe for 24
hours.
PA or Protection UVA
is a Japanese standard to indicate effectiveness in protecting the skin from UVA
radiation, the cause of discoloration and premature aging. The more '+' signs
indicated, the higher the level of protection. PA +++ indicates the maximum
level of protection against UVA radiation in cosmetics.
Your
skin may become sensitive during the use of AHA, thus wearing
Green Tea Sunblock
Cream with SPF25 PA+++ is very important. Applying Godiva Green Tea
Sunblock Cream gives you the HIGHEST possible protection against UVA rays at
PA+++. Note that accumulated exposure from UVA is the primary cause of
premature aging, age spots, and uneven skin tone, spider veins and sagging skin.
And yes, you may use other
products together with Godiva Natural Skin Care products as long as they target
different skin care concerns.
Using
Godiva Licorice
Whitening Cream alone, however, may not give you the best result that you
may expect. Lightening of hyperpigmentations, especially those that have already
reached the dermal layer may take a length of time before you may be able to see
results. Thus, we suggest following the proper regimen we have provided.
However, if you wish, you may disregard the use of Godiva Fruit Acid
Revitalizing Complex. Results may take months, depending on how dark the hyperpigmentations are.
Yours truly,
Skin Care Counselor
