[1]������ This often snow-capped mountain is some 9000 feet above sea level.� It is about thirty miles east of the Mediterranean Sea and on a clear day must have provided an amazing view.� It was known even centuries before as a place of religious contemplation; ancient artifacts found here show evidence of a few scattered pagan monastaries and temples.� Today it is called Jebel eth-Thilj, "mount of snow."
