[42] THE BIBLE, MATTHEW 2:16 - Herod...flew into a rage.� He commanded the murder of every little boy two years old and under who lived in Bethlehem and its surrounding hills.� (He determined that age from information he'd gotten from the scholars [wise men].)
[43] THE BIBLE, MATTHEW 2:13-14 - After the scholars [wise men] were gone, God's angel showed up again in Joseph's dream and commanded, "Get up.� Take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt.� Stay until further notice.� Herod is on the hunt for this child, and wants to kill him."� Joseph obeyed.� He got up, took the child and his mother under cover of darkness.� They were out of town and well on their way by daylight.
[44] THE BIBLE, JEREMIAH 31:15 (NIV) [PREDICTED 600 YEARS BEFORE JESUS]; MATTHEW 2:17-18 - A voice is heard [from as far away as] Ramah, Rachel [who died in Bethlehem during childbirth - Genesis 37:35] weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because her children are no more....That's when Jeremiah's sermon was fulfilled:� "A sound was heard in Ramah, weeping and much lament.� Rachel [grand daughter of Abraham] weeping for her children, Rachel refusing all solace, her children gone, dead and buried."
[45] THE BIBLE, MARK 10:14-15 - Jesus..."These children are at the very center of life in the kingdom.� Mark this:� Unless you accept God's kingdom in the simplicity of a child, you'll never get in."
[46] THE BIBLE, HOSEA 11:1 [PROPHECIED 750 YEARS BEFORE JESUS] MATTHEW 2:15 - When Israel was a child I loved him as a son and brought him out of Egypt....This Egyptian exile fulfilled what Hosea had preached:� "I called my son out of Egypt."
[47] FLAVIUS JOSEPHUS, ANTIQUITIES OF THE JEWS, BK. 17, 6:4 - Herod burnt the other Matthias, who had raised the sedition, with his [forty] companions, alive.� And that very night there was an eclipse.� (This eclipse of the moon is of the greatest consequence for the determination of the time for the death of Herod...and for the birth and entire chronology of Jesus Christ.� It happened March 13....the 4th year before the Christian era.)
[48] FLAVIUS JOSEPHUS, ANTIQUITIES OF THE JEWS, BK. 17, 7:1 - Antipater...hoping to...take the kingdom into his hands...Hereupon Herod...cried out and beat his head, although he was at death's door, and...commanded them to kill Antipater.
[49] FLAVIUS JOSEPHUS, ANTIQUITIES OF THE JEWS, BK. 17, 6:5; 8:1 - But now Herod's distemper greatly increased...a fire glowed in him...it augmented his pains....His entrails were also exulcerated, and the chief violence of his pain lay on his colon; an aqueous and transparent liquor also had settled itself about his feet, and a like matter afflicted him at the bottom of his belly....his privy-member was putrefied, and produced worms; and when he sat upright he had a difficulty of breathing, which was very loathsome on account of the stench of his breath...he had also convulsions...to insufferable degree....he died, the fifth day after he had caused [his son] to be slain.
[50] THE BIBLE, MATTHEW 2:21-23 - Joseph...took the child and his mother, and reentered Israel.� When he heard, though, that Archelaus had succeeded his father, Herod, as king in Judea, he was afraid to go there.� But then Joseph was directed in a dream to go to the hills of Galilee.� On arrival, he settled in the village of Nazareth.
[51] THE BIBLE, JOHN 1:21, MATTHEW 11:14 [NIV] - ....They asked him [John], "Then who are you?� Are you Elijah?"� He said, "I am not"� ....[Jesus said] "he [John] is the Elijah who was to come."
