THE GIRL & THE LADY
When Jesus was only 19 years old, a little girl was born in a certain town.  "Let's name her Leah," her parents said.

That very same year in the same town, a lady named Ruth started slowly bleeding on the inside of her body, and the bleeding wouldn't stop.

Lively Leah was growing and not a baby any more, for now she was one year old and she could walk.  Ruth kept bleeding and finally had to quit going to church which at that time and to the Jews was called synagogue.

Lively Leah kept growing growing and then she was three years old and could run and play and sing.  Ruth kept slowly bleeding.  Her boss finally said, "You stay home sick too much.  You can't work here any more."  So Ruth had to sell her big house in town.

Lively Leah kept growing and then she was five years old and could help her mother bake.  Ruth kept slowly bleeding.  She bought a small house in the country.

Lively Leah kept growing and then she was seven years old.  She was strong enough to help carry water in a little jar on her head.  Ruth kept slowly bleeding.  She had got another job, but her new boss said, "You stay home sick too much.  You can't work here any more."

Lively Leah kept growing and then she was nine and loved to play games with her friends.  Ruth kept slowly bleeding.  She finally sold her little house so she could pay more doctors and went to live with someone.

Lively Leah kept growing and then she was 12.  But something very sad happened to her.  Lively Leah quit acting lively.  She became very sick.  She became sicker, even, than Ruth.

Jesus was all grown up by now and teaching and healing people.  Leah's father rushed to Jesus.  "Please heal my little girl."  So Jesus started toward Leah's house.

But on the way, Ruth saw him.   Ruth wanted to be healed too.  But the crowd around Jesus was so large, she couldn't get close enough to ask him to heal her.

So Ruth stooped down and grabbed at the bottom of Jesus' robe as he passed.  Jesus stopped.  "Power has just gone out of me!" he said.  "Who touched me?"

Ruth suddenly realized her bleeding had stopped and she was strong again.  She told Jesus that and he replied, "Be happy now.  Your faith in me healed you."

Jesus took too long with Ruth.  So by the time he got to Leah's house, she had died.  Everyone was sad and crying.

Jesus told everyone to cheer up.  He went to Leah's room and brought her back to life.

Some day when you die ~ everyone dies ~ Jesus will bring you back to life too.
