NOTE: This was a special gift only the Apostles received. Jesus was repeating what he had said earlier in Matthew 16:19 and 18:18.

Sometimes we think God is making us legalistic when he says things should be done in a certain way. But, if the (1) Jews had not built the tabernacle exactly like God said to, (2) and had not put the Most Holy Place in it like God said to, (3) and allowed anyone who want to go into the Most Holy Place, when it came time to explain the spiritual counterpart, we could not have understood.

Just what is evil, anyway? We think of people who torture and kill as evil. Or rapists. But what does the Word of God consider evil? This word in Hebrew is "Ra" and is sometimes translated bad, harm, hurt, grieve, be naughty, cause trouble.. This word in the Greek is "kakos" which is the antonym of "kalos" which means fair, advisable, good. Also in Greek it is "poneros" which involves causing physical problems. So evil is anything we do which is harmful, bad, inadvisable, and that covers every sin we commit.
