History
They originated in Sicily long before the Great War. They were one of the most powerful organized crime sindicates then. Once the Great War broke out on Earth, the Families turned against each other. Blood shed was everywhere. The streets, and even within the Families. Among these families was the once great Salieri Family, now reduced to nothing due to betrayal within the Family, and the attempts on the Don's life.
Once the Great War was finished, all that remained of the Families boarded the seed ships, and escaped the now inhabitable planet of Earth. The Salieri Family re-organized themselves after their seed ship found a habitable planet. They helped the other colonists get back on their feet, and in doing so gained their respect. The Salieri's soon became the most respected Family in the galaxy. This period of time was when the Salieri Family was completely legitimate, and did not go out of the boundaries of the law.
Once the organization of USI arose, the Salieri Family took their interests to a bigger level. The USI restricted trade of certain goods, and despised organized crime all together. Soon, the Salieri Family had to cease all operations on their current planet, and move to Capital City, where they gained a stronghold of the business that came in and out of the planet. The Salieri now controlled the illegal gambling, the brothels, and the smuggling rings. They despise dealing with any type of illegal drugs, as do the other Families. The Salieri have now expanded and control up to four different planets. They are currently trying to gain a foothold on New Sydney and its business.
Organization
The Salieri Family is organized like any other organized crime Family. They have the head of operations, or the Don. The Don can only be an actual family member bearing the name of Salieri. Mainly it is the son, or sons of the current Don who will take over the family business.
Directly under the Don is the Under boss. He is the person the Don trusts to run the organization. They receive orders directly from the Don, and carry them out by either giving the orders to the Capo Regime, or executing them himself. The Under boss is the person who will take over the family business once the Don is deceased.
Under the Under boss is the Consigliere, or advisor. This person controls all the legal aspects of the Family's business. They answer directly to the Don, and help him keep relations with the local government, or the other Families at a peaceful level.
Under that are the Caporegimes. They are the ones in charge of the foot soldiers under their regime. They are the ones who give the orders to the foot soldiers to either conduct a hit, or give a "job" to. They are well respected by their subordinates and are third in line for the title of Don.
Foot soldiers are the bulk of the Family. They are the "gangsters" people think about when the words organized crime comes to mind. They conduct hits on marked individuals, or they extort the businesses for protection money. Of course 60% of all the profit they gain goes to the Family.
Under foot soldier is the Associate. They do not have any part of the Family business. They do not even have direct contact with anyone but the Capo above them. They are called upon to do dirty jobs to show their loyalty. If they have proven loyal, they are welcomed officially into the family as a foot soldier
Under them is the Outsider or people wanting to be a part of the family. They are given small time jobs, like roughing up a store keeper for not paying his protection on time. Eventually they will become an Associate of the Family, and maybe even a foot soldier if they are loyal enough.
