Niwa Daisuke, when the story begins, is a fourteen year old boy. He is in love with a girl named Harada Risa, who rejects him on his 14th birthday. Ever since he was a really small boy, his mother and grandfather set up traps in front of his own home before he can even enter. They've always been "training" him for something.
Daisuke undergoes a change in appearance. His hair becomes longer, and black, his eyes are purple/red/blue whatever color they are (they appear to change in a lot of different pictures), he becomes taller, stronger, and sexier. His mother tells him that he has changed into the Legendary Phantom Thief, Dark Mousy. Darks steals paintings and other such things, his main goal being the Virgin Statue so that he can change himself back.
Dark is a...pervert in a sense, and he's got no trouble with attracting the ladies. Daisuke likes Risa, but Dark likes Riku, Risa's twin. Risa likes Dark, but Riku likes Daisuke. Quite the love triangle!
Dark is somewhat of a curse to all the men in the NIwa family (Grandpa was Dark once, too). As long as Daisuke remains in love with Risa, Dark will keep appearing, because he reacts on the feelings of love. Meaning, whenever he has these feelings, Daisuke turns into Dark.
Hiwatari Satoshi is absolutely obsessed with capturing Dark. Satoshi even harrasses Daisuke at school for information. I wonder what he could want with Dark...?
