| Yule This ritual involves the tradition of lighting a Yule Log. I don't always have access to a fire place so I have to find another way to light the Yule Log. I take a log of Oak and drill three wholes in it. Large enough to put a tapper candle in each. You can choose different colors that have holiday mean. I like to use three all white candles. I place them in the wholes and add greens like pine needles and pine cones, holly leaves and I try ribbons and bows to decorate the log. Start by casting a circle. Standing infront of your altar, state your intentions. "Yule is a magickal moment on the everturning wheel of the year. It is full of heart and passion, lightness and gravity, hope and realism. Yule makes colors seem brighter; memories sharper, sweeter, warm and shadowed as we begin to see with a child's eyes our dreams and pictures in the flames of the hearth. With warmth and brightness the red heart of a winter fire welcomes us in from cold nights of rustling firs and snowcapped roofs. As the falling flakes of winter weather covers the landscape we reflect on the unconquerable human spirit. We seek the sacredness of the whole, the oneness of all in the universe. We experience a tremendous soul-hunger, so we celebrate our mortality and humanity. For we are thankful for shelter from the winter's harsh bitter air." Focus on the Yule Log and the birth of the God. Light the Yule Log's candles from left to right say this chant each time you light a candle. "On the shortest day and the longest night We encourage the birth of the light We welcome now the newborn Sun The old reign's gone-the new one begun." Close your circle and ground your energy. Drink some eggnog and toast to the Great Mother and her new born son, the new King. Let the candles burn through don't put them out. |
