Often refered to as Ranma's "Cute" Fiancee, Ukyo is an old childhood friend of Ranma's, even though he always thought she was just another boy off on training with his father. When Ranma and his father were leaving, Genma had a little talk with Ukyo's dad. Basically, Mr. Kuonji asked Genma if he would promise Ranma to Ukyo. Genma said Ranma was already promised, but when Mr. Kuonji offered the Okinomiyaki cart for a dowry, Genma said, "But promises are meant to be broken, right?" and promises the Kuonjis that when Ranma and Genma leave and go off to train somewhere else, they will take Ukyo so they can get married at the appropriate age. They end up running away with the cart and leaving poor Ukyo behind, only to suffer her wrath 10 years later when she finds them and beats them up! |
