~Episode Five~ Blast To The Past~
Back to the Sanctuary
~Part Four~

1837-1901; Victorian Era

Aww God it feels like some bastard just threw me at a truck. Kassie moaned.

You and me both Dom replied rubbing his neck. What was that? he turned to where Orlando and Mercy should have been.

Where the fuck is everyone? Kass exclaimed And where the fuck are we? she jumped up disorientated and on full alert. And how the hell did I end up down there?

That was interesting Dom responded taking in there surroundings.

Why the hell are you so calm? Kassie snapped.

Im not calm, Kassie Im hurt Dom replied still rubbing his neck. This place kinda looks familiar. He continued, taking in the size of the room.

Yeah, it seems kinda familiar she looked around the room as she sat behind Dom and began to rub his neck. So do you think weve been moved or teleported or something?

Your guess is as good as mine he closed his eyes and sighed, But I think that we should take a look around to see where exactly we are.

Yeah cmon lets go she moved around in front of him and offered him her hand. He grabbed hold and tried to pull him self up, but Kassie let out a yelp of pain as she felt her shoulder pop she loosened her grip letting Dom fall to the floor still gripping her arm and taking her with him.

Oww. Kassie whined as she lay on top of Dom That hurt

Youre telling me Dom answered with a laugh. At that moment the door across the room opened, engulfing them in a stream of light.

Master Monaghan, theres bin trouble in the bar! bellowed a young cockney voice from the doorway, followed by a

Sorry Master, I didnt know you ad company. Dom and Kassie stared at the young boy no more than 13 dressed strangely, he had on a pair of what looked like brown short trousers made of what could have been sacking, a dirty what used to be white loose fitting shirt and an indescribable vest. They looked at each other confused.

Whats he talking about and whats with the clothes? Kassie asked quietly not sure if it would scare the kid.

I have no idea? Dom replied then turned to the boy. Who are you?

The boy blushed, Sorry, Sir he blushed M names Sam, Mister Billy said for me to fetch you down ere directly e says theres trouble.

Sounds like our game. Kassie answered as she got up, this time not offering her hand to Dom, who noticed and smiled as he got up.

Well lead the way, he said to the boy as he and Kassie moved to follow. Sam stopped short and looked at Dom quizzically, then shyly at Kassie Um sir I dont fink the lady should come out dressed like vat? Dom turned to look at
Kassie, looking at her out fit and wondered why her Track pants and tank top werent suitable when only an hour ago she had been out to the supermarket. What the hell is wrong with my clothes? she asked indignantly. The boy flushed and looked at Kassie with shock. Well answer me. She demanded.

I dont mean to upset the miss, but you might wanna cover up a bit Sam noticed that Kassie was getting angry and he had never heard a lady so pretty speak like that before. She had a very strange accent. He didnt want the young miss to make a scene in the street even though it was a short walk to the bar in question. But he had Mr Monaghans reputation to think of. If you dont mind miss Ill be back in a jiff.

What is up with the little guy? Kassie huffed Its not like I dont have anything on.

I have no idea Dom was trying to figure out why this kid was being so helpful and it seemed all because of him.

And what the hell is it with him calling you Master Monaghan Kassie mimicked the boy perturbed and started to rant about how he seemed like he was embarrassed that she might be going with them. And my shoulder hurts she added randomly hoping to get Doms attention.

What? he asked turning from searching the room further.

I said my shoulder hurts, I think I hurt it when I landed here. Where ever the hell here is.

Oh, yknow this is a wine cellar or something Dom pointed out the barrels lining the walls. And then Kassie noticed the damp musty smell that permeated the air, she closer at the barrels and saw the date marked on it Dom these barrels are like nearly a thousand years old she showed him the date markings on the barrel. They are worthless.

Dont you mean priceless?

Worthless, Priceless it depends on how much you like wine. She shrugged realising her mistake. Just then the door opened with Sam returning and walking over to Kassie The miss mite like to wear vis in the street, its a mite cold outside seemingly trying to change the reason for the cloak. Kassie looked at the boy and took what he offered. It was a hooded robe made from heavy black velvet. She looked confused at the boy who was pleading with her to put it on. Then he turned to Dom Sir it would be in your interests
Dom shrugged and looked at Kassie eyeing the heavy garb. Make the kid happy and put it on he suggested

Yeah what ever, mate and pulled the cloak on.

Thank you miss he smiled at her Ill show you the way. Leading them out of the wine cellar, up a dark corridor and out a door into the light filled street.

It took a while for their eyes to adjust to the sunlight. But they could hear the bustle of a busy street and a lot of people around them.

Dom wasnt it night time about 10 minutes ago? Kassie asked trying to shade her eyes from the evening sunshine.

Um yeah but I think thats the least of our problems Dom stood staring in awe of what he was seeing. Kassies eyes adjusted a few minutes later.

What the she mumbled under breathe, Toto we aint in Kansas anymore

Watching the scene before them unfold and seem less real the more they watched. Horse driven carts. Some very strangely dressed people, women dressed in gorgeous and fancy outfits, albeit restrictive, men with three piece suits with waistcoats and top hats.

They slowly followed Sam awe-struck at the unfolding scene.

Dom, what the hell is going on here? Kassie whispered.

I have no Idea Kass, but I think weve arrived at our destination. Watching as Sam walked into a darkened doorway.

This doesnt look good. Kassie said under her breath.

It's alright miss nothin will happen to you with tha Master Sam reassured her.

Thanks she replied sarcastically. Kid you need to show me the ropes of this place

Sam looked at her confused then answered, If tha miss would like I could show er around a bit

Thats what I said she replied getting annoyed. This situation wasnt something she liked. They had no idea where they were, yet a lot of it seemed so familiar even the bar they had just entered was like she had been there before, but she couldnt put her finger on it. She watched as a guy about the same age as Dom approach, he was dressed in the same manner as the boy although it was a little more well looked after, he had very short thinning brown hair and about the same height as Dom.

What took you so long? he asked in a thick Scottish accent. He didnt seem angry at the asking more annoyed that he had to try and handle things himself.

I was busy? Dom replied glancing at Kassie uncertainly.

I can see how busy you were. He responded with a laugh.

Hey buddy, watch your mouth Kassie jumped to her own defence. Dom cringed at the impending argument, when
little Sam jumped to the rescue.

Mista Billy, Master Monaghan came directly it was me vat took too long in fetching im

Well its good to see your honest Sam but thats no excuse he should have been here the irritation in his voice obvious.

Whats the trouble Sam told us about Kassie asked getting bored of situation. Needing to find out what the hell happened to them.

Not that its any of your business Lass but our patrons are becoming a little unruly this evenin. If the lass comment did get her riled up it was the way she was being spoken to like she was a second class citizen, even the kid looked at her weird.

And that effects me how? Dom asked

Because you my business partner were meant to reorder stock and it hasnt arrived yet.

Mista Billy thats were I found em Sam piped up At the warehouse

Dom new found business partner sighed, And I still dont see any more barrels. He was exasperated now.

Its not Master Monaghans fault Sir Sam tried to defend Dom again

Sam will you shut up Billy shouted getting a fair amount of attention from the few patrons there.

Dude, chill out. Kassie spoke up; Its not the kids fault.

Dom stared at the events unfolding he didnt know what to think he felt like he was in the middle of the Twilight Zone or something. Everyone here knew who he was and yet he didnt know who he was. Everyone was dressed strangely and yet they didnt notice that he wasnt dressed like them. He had on a pair of jeans and a T-shirt; he had on a pair of Doc Martins. He stuck out like a sore thumb. But Kassie was covered in that cloak.

Dom are you alright? Billy asked in his thick accent. Dom turned and looked at this friendly stranger then to Kassie who was just as shocked at the familiar questioning.

Sam, Whats the date today? Was all he asked taking in the rest of the room, trying to make sense of their predicament.

Why its the August eight sir Sam replied confused.

What year?

Even more confused Sam replied Eighteen undred and eighty eight Sir

Kassies eyes widened Dom looked at his partner with confusion. What the hell? were the words that came out of both of their mouths.

1888. Kassie replied

I need a drink Dom sighed

Make that two Kassie stated to Billy. The pair went at sat at the far end of the bar at a table facing the bar and the door. It seemed like the most natural place to sit for the pair of them. When they got the drinks they drank them down in one gulp, Kassie getting a look of surprise from some of the older men in the bar.

My head hurts. Kassie complained Whats going on Dom? One minute were in the Sanctuary and the next were here. Something very weird has happened here.

Youre telling me. How is it that everyone here knows who I am? Dom replied I dont even know where we are.

Its all that weird mystical mumbo jumbo weve been dealing with. I bet. Some kind of evil get even plan.

What do you think happened to the others? Dom asked the question that they had both been avoiding. Do you think they are here as well.

I dont know maybe, but if they did why didnt they land in there asss with us?

Maybe they got sucked into another part of the city? Dom suggested. Then he turned to Sam and asked What city are we in exactly

Youre in London sir Sam replied puzzled by the question.

Shit a brick! Kassie exclaimed as she lay her head on her arms.

Hey Kass do you notice anything interesting about the people in this bar? Dom asked as he took a better look at the bar.

Kassie lifted her head and did a scan of the room. She slowly made her way around the room Dom, are those what I think they are?

Thats exactly what I thought. Dom responded, Vampires?

Now my head really hurts. Kassie wailed laying her head on her arms again. Seconds later there was a commotion at the door and a group of men strolled through the door.

Hey isnt that they both spoke up

VIN? they chimed in together. Both stood ready to go over and question him.

Wait. Dom held Kassie back.

What are you doing? she asked pulling her sore arm away with a little wince.

What if he is like just a 1888 Vin and not our Vin. Dom tried to explain. Seeing the look of confusion of Kassies face he continued to explain. Everyone here seems to know me right. Like I live here. What if that guy pointing at the spitting image of O What if he is from this time?

Well how are we going to find out? Kassie asked finally figuring it out.

I dont know go and ask him Dom was starting to get a headache and he wasnt really in the mood for figuring out this mess.

Not a bad idea Kassie smiled and walked over to Vins double.

Hi there. She smiled at him as she approached.

Hello Young miss what are you doing in a place like this? His English accent much stronger than she was normally used to.

Nothing much. She knew for sure this wasnt there Vin but she had to make sure. Whats your name? she asked

Well arent you very up front? he laughed Most people call me Sir he continued to laugh. Kassie didnt like this Vin, he was a jerk, he may be a dam good looking jerk but he was a jerk all the same.

Well the only person I called sir was my school teacher and you look too stupid to be a teacher. She replied indignantly and walked back to where Dom was sitting. Thats not him. Kassie informed Dom Our Orli isn't a right ass like this guy.

Well then I guess were still in this on our own. Dom responded with a sigh. What ever this is I hope we figure it out. Just then he looked up and saw Vin walking towards them. Great just what I need another dose of anal Kassie complained.

Mr Monaghan, I see this young lady is a friend of yours; but we werent formally introduced. He turned to Kassie

Vincent Diesel at your service. He gave a flourish of his hand and a bow.

Kasseopaea Andromeda Michaels she replied snidely knowing that he expected Dom to introduce her to him. She didnt take his hand and only gave him a nod.

What business do you have with Master Monaghan? Sam asked pushily.

None of your business boy and he shoved Sam out of the way.

Hey watch it, Mate! Dom jumped to Sams defence, helping the boy up.

We have some business to attend. He turned to Kassie Would you mind

No not at all. Kassie responded and didnt move.

Anything you have to say to me you can say to her. Dom responded But if its business then I think there should be someone else here. Dom turned to the Bar and hailed Billy over. Billy approached and eyed Vin wearily. What are you doing here? Billy snapped

Just a business call really Vin huffed Ive come to tell you that I cannot do business with you because I have run out of stock.

But the warehouse up the road was full two days ago. Billy questioned.

Well its empty now

Is that the Warehouse just up the road, Dom asked glancing at Kassie.

Thats right Billy replied questioningly Why?

Well it seems that Mr Bloom here wants to play the supply and demand game. Dom answered.

We know for a fact you still have stock Dom said to Vin But what makes you think that we want your stock? that statement getting him a kick under the table from Billy.

Well I am the only supplier in town.

Thats were your wrong. Kassie smiled I know of another supplier in town that can just as easily supply more and better quality for a bargain basement price. This time it was she that got the kick from Dom.
It seemed that Kassies assumption that this Vin was stupid wasnt far off. You could see the cogs turning in his head and the look of terror on his face when he thought that he was being undercut. Then like Kassie expected he caved. Ok fine I will give you everything I have in my warehouse for 5% off.

How about 40% Billy asked who had seen Kassies obvious plan.

15 Vin countered

35 Kassie shot back

Ill give you 25 % off and thats my final offer. Vin looked like he was sweating blood.

Deal. Billy and Kassie replied simultaneously.

Dom smiled at the pair one he knew better than he thought he could ever know anyone and the other who he had never met but felt he had known him forever.

Delivery will be by this evening he stood clearly upset and shook hands with Dom and Billy only giving Kassie a sneer of distaste.

Ooh someone doesnt like me Kassie joked.

That was some interesting bargaining there lass Billy laughed

Thank you Kassie smiled. She had gotten the trust of Billy and Sam seemed to have taken a liking to her. Dom they trusted because they knew him, although he couldnt figure out why they had so much respect for him and they werent giving away much.

The rest of the day for the pair was getting used to where they were and what they were doing there. They guessed that they had like done a Quantum Leap type thing into someone elses bodys but the thing was they had there own names; well Dom had his own name they had no idea who Kassie was. Vin had his own name but he hadnt done a leap from their time to this. They werent really even sure if this was a time leap or an alternate universe or what they just knew that they were in the Victorian era and Kassie was getting annoyed with the idea of having to wear a dress unnecessarily. Then there was the tricky question of Vampires sitting in the bar that Dom owned. They had a serious problem with this not only because of who they were in there time but because they were worried about who they were in this time.

I have no Idea whats going on here Dom Kassie asked her friend as she lay on a bed that Sam had shown them too saying it was Doms. Kassie didnt even ask why he was showing them the room when Dom should have known. I mean its not like I can go to the library and research this, they would laugh at me if I went to any library looking up the occult like this or even time travel.

Dom sat staring out the window from a window seat over looking the street. What the hell are vampires doing in my bar? he asked her, Do you think that maybe Im like a demon bar keeper or something?
Kassie shrugged Anything is possible. She sighed but my best guess is that we talk to Sam.

That wont work hell figure out I dont belong here.

Dom if you hadnt noticed hes noticed already Kassie began pointing out that he was dressed differently and that he was shown to his room.

Ok well I guess your right and Im still not adjusting to this well Dom conceded.

Youre telling me Kassie got up and walked over to the door where she knew Sam would be waiting outside, no doubt listening.

You called miss Sam smiled at her as he sat up from his inconspicuous spot on the floor.

Come in Sam I wanna talk to you. Sam leaped for the floor and practically bounded inside.

What can I help you with miss?

Sam tell me about this place? Kassie wasnt going to pussy foot around with niceties.

Talk about subtle Dom laughed.

Sam eyed the pair curiously, and then smiled. I knew there was somethin strange about you sir. Looking at Dom I mean sir the other Mr Dom was nice enough but e never would ave let me stay in the bar like you did.

What was the other me like Sam? Dom asked

He was a very clever man and tuff sir well respected for that sir Sam took a breath, But he wasnt very clever with the ladys Sam blushed

What makes you think this one is? Kassie laughed

Sam looked clearly upset by his remark, Because miss youre more high spirited than the othas Sam blushed.

So your saying Dom here likes them ditzy Kassie smirked

If youre meaning vat they werent to smart miss

Thats what I mean. Sam exactly Kassie smiled and rubbed the boys head.

Okay so the other me wasnt very clever at choosing woman, or girls from what Sam has just said, but what does that have to do with me? And the bar? Dom was getting a little testy with the line of questioning.

Ok Sam whats with the big nastys in the bar? Kassie changed the course of the questions back on track before Dom got angrier.

Well Sir Sam turned to Dom it seems that the young ladys didnt hang around too long, and usually they dont ever come back.

What does that have to do with the bar? Kassie asked

Well miss it as something to do wif the folks in tha bar. Sam gulped They aint natural if you know what I mean?

Sam was scared. Kassie had seen that kind of look in a lot of people, this was no different. She looked over at Dom who looked like he knew exactly what was going on.

We know Sam Dom answered Does Billy know about all this?

Not that I know of sir. But I think thats becos es your friend see.

No one goes against what you say Master Monaghan Sam finished

Thank you Sam Dom answered with a sigh. Then sent Sam down to the bar to get him something to eat.

Well, what do you make of that? Kassie queried her friend seeing that he had come up with more of a clue than she had.

I figure that the Victorian me has made some kind of deal with these vampires and that they are holding something over him.

What do you mean some kind of deal? Kassie still couldnt figure it out, her head hurt and her shoulder ached. Dom noticed her discomfort.

Whats up Angel youre not usually this slow to the mark? Dom approached.

Everything hurts she complained Especially my shoulder.

Dom took a look at her arm, he saw that it was bruised and beginning to swell. What did you do here, Sweets.

I told you it felt like someone threw me in front of a truck she reminded him, Then when I tried to pull you up earlier it just got worse.

Well it looks like you dislocated it you are going to have to immobilise it

Argh I hate it when your right she sulked My head still hurts.

Youre a big baby. Dom laughed looking for something to elevate her arm after he popped it back into place. You know I have to pop that back in.

Hell no! she yelped I will do it myself, I saw Lethal Weapon I can do that.

Kass you are NOT Mel Gibson and THAT was a movie it wont work.

I dont care. Kassie moaned she walked over to the doorframe and lined it up. She took a deep breath and slammed her shoulder as hard as she could into it. Letting out an earth shattering scream, and a string of obscenities. This resulted in Dom shaking his head and covering his ears, and Billy and Sam running upstairs to see what had happened. After she explained that she was only fixing her shoulder they still left warily.

You know now they think that I was trying something on dont you? Dom stated to his friend

Absolutely Kassie smiled But thats not your problem is it. Its Victorian Doms. So tell me what your theory is? she sat next to him on the bed.

Well, Dom continued as he started to strap her arm still. I think that Victorian me somehow has made a deal with these vamps to keep a constant stream of young ladys on hand

Well thats not a bad plan, but what do you think they have over him that makes him do it?

I think we will find out if we stop doing it dont you? Dom replied pulling a ripped shirt around her neck to keep her arm still.

Sounds like a plan. But what if the something turns out to be a someone? Kassie asked, We dont want to be playing with peoples lives?

What are you talking about? Dom snapped Some bastard has played with our lives by sending us here. What makes you think I care right now about messing with someone elses life? Dom stood up quickly, accidentally jarring Kassie arm.

With a wince she stood up Dom I know you dont mean that? She walked over to the window where he was You do care about what happens to other people thats what you do.

Well right now Kassie I just want to get home back to our time. Screw the time travel crap if thats what this is. He disputed I mean its not like we dont have our own shit to deal with in our own time. Kassie let her friend spaz out he needed to vent it wasnt often he did it and hardly ever in front of her. This was some heavy shit and she knew it and they dealt with things differently.

So what are we going to do then? she continued on with the topic. I mean if we are going to try and stop the people trade off then we better find out what all this is about.

Dom turned around and looked at his friend and smiled, Theres only one thing worse than you being right, and thats you being clam

Calmer than you, you mean. Kassie quipped

Yeah so I guess we have two options. Dom replied One we stop the Suckers from taking you. He paused

Or two? Kassie was afraid to ask

We let them take you and see if they take you back to their hideout he finished

Aw hell why do I have to be bait? Kassie whined Im injured.

Because they expect it.

Thats not fair I could so whip all their asses down there with my one arm. And now I have to play all innocent and defenceless. I hate your plans they suck

Well now you know how I feel about yours. Dom replied sweetly And anyway didnt you hear Sam; no one goes against what I say it was his turn to imitate Sam. Kassie only rolled her eyes in response.

An hour later Dom and Kassie sat still in their small room equipped with a bed, wooden dresser and a small bed side table with a wash basin and jug on it.

This waiting is really getting to me Dom. Kassie complained as she adjusted the dress Sam had brought in to her. Because The miss needs to look like the lady she is. It was a simple dress with corset and full skirt with so many layers so heavy even she was finding it hard to carry it all. Dom smiled at her discomfort and replied, I know but until we get our visitors we have no choice

Hey I just had a thought! Kassie announced.

Did it hurt? Dom laughed

Your funny Kassie replied dryly Anyway she continued If you like leapt into that body and I was sorta with you; then who the hell am I?

Good thought. Dom answered wryly I guess other than this Doms next victim you must be someone here.

Thats what I said, she replied getting excitable But who am I?

At that moment the door flew open splintering the frame, KASSEOPAEA a booming voice echoed through the room.

Theres your answer. Dom stated get a roll of eyes from his partner.
Kassie looked past the two strange men at the doorway to the direction of the voice. She knew that voice it sounded so familiar, but she had to be sure. She moved to where she could see the emerging figure; she wished she hadnt she wished she had run and hid. Not only so he wouldnt see her but so that she didnt have to look at him.

Kass are you ok? Dom saw the pained expression on her face. He gently touched her arm.

Take you hands off my wife the invader ordered

Your what? Dom and Kassie responded. Sam came rushing into the room pushing past the men Master Monaghan Im sorry sir e wouldnt take no for an answer.

Its ok Sam, but who is he Dom asked but before Sam could answer he was interrupted

My name sir is Mitchell Symes and you have abducted my wife

The hell he has Kass snapped getting a startled look from everyone in the room but Dom, If I go anywhere with Dom its willingly she stated And not you or anyone else can tell me differently

My poor sweet Kasseopaea what has he done to you? Mitchell pulled her close and caressed her hair. She shoved him away, Get off me, and he hasnt and wouldnt do anything that I wouldnt want him too. Everyone including Dom this time was stunned at her statement.

Mitch what are you doing here? she finally asked calmly.

My love Ive come to take you home to our son Mitch replied with; if Kassie didnt know him better, an almost look of sadness.

Your son? Dom asked

Kassie visibly paled Our Son she whispered clearly more shocked than Dom at the revelation.

Yes love, he misses you dearly Mitch answered.

I think Im gonna be sick. She turned to Dom. This better not be a joke Dom its not funny

Your tellin me Dom replied steadying his partner

Mitch looked on in confusion, Kasseopaea who is this man? Kassie took a deep breath and turned to Mitch. This man is my best friend and can you please stop calling me Kasseopaea she finished through gritted teeth.

Dom stifled a laugh forgetting the situation and its seriousness, getting a scowl from Mitch and Kassie.

Im not going with you! Kassie announced

What about our son? Mitch asked angrily. Kassie looked torn

It has a long time since I last saw him. The others in the room not knowing how long it had truly been, with Dom not knowing the situation at all. Kassies head reeled with thoughts of seeing her boy again, she figured if things in this reality were similar to her own and her baby was still alive how old was he, but she didnt care he was alive and that all that concerned her. She looked at Dom and he saw a longing and pain he had never seen before. She seemed tormented, the few minutes these men had entered the room she had gone from bored and frustrated to confused and torn.

At that moment Billy left is vantage point in the hallway and entered the room, Its seems here lads that we have a problem. Since the miss is here by her own freewill and you all seem to maintain that she should leave with you I think that you should give her sometime to think and decide for herself.

And who are you to say what should happen.
Billy approached him I sir am the owner of this establishment and you have entered uninvited, I am quite in my rights to call the law.

As you please sir we will return Mitch turned to leave the room, My love I will return for you. Looking at Kassie longingly.

Yeah you do that. Kassie answered sarcastically. When Mitch finally left the room Kassie let out a sigh of relief like she had held her breath the entire time he was in the room.

Sweets you have kept some things from for a long time and I think its time you explained them. Dom asked his best friend.

I know Dom Kassie sat on the edge of the bed resting her head on her free arm. She looked up at Billy and smiled

Thanks Billy, I think your are officially my knight in shining armour.

Well miss you certainly looked to be a damsel in distress a few moments ago. Billy replied with a smile But it looks to me that you need to discuss something so Sam and I will go downstairs. Kassie nodded and Billy and Sam left the room leaving Dom and Kassie alone.
There was a silence between them that even for the two it was unusually uncomfortable.

So. Dom broke the silence.

Yeah, So Kassie replied I guess I should explain. She looked at Dom and tried to figure out what he was thinking;

She knew she couldnt. He was the hardest and the easiest person to read, and right now she wasnt sure if thats what she wanted anyway, she was scared he would judge her like everybody else had and she couldnt have that from him.

Just tell me Angel, It cant be that bad.

You dont how bad it really is. Kassie replied But its time you knew whats up. She let out a huge sigh. It started a year before I left New Zealand. I was with Mitch; my family thought he was the be all and end all of great guys. And so did I, But I already told you how things went badly with us. Kassie continued to explain The details I left out. We had been together for almost 6 years, We had a 2 year old Son, Riley. He was the cutest cleverest baby ever born, Kassie beamed as she talked about Riley, and Dom saw a look of pure joy on her face he had never seen. I was working away for the first time since he was born, and Mitch had Riley at home, I thought that he was being looked after.

Kassie faced changed from joy to sadness. That was the weekend I found out that he was cheating on me and he had been for a long time. Kassie had tears in her eyes but she refused to cry. I couldnt believe what he had done he said all the right things and I believed him, I mean he was the greatest he did everything for me, he worked I stayed home and I thought that everything was ok. Carried on like nothing had happened, for a little while anyway.

Before Kassie could continue Dom interrupted What happened to Riley?

Kassies tears spilled over Umm that weekend I went away, when I thought my baby was safe with his daddy, but his daddy had other things he was looking after. Kassie sounded angry and let down. While he was with his whore, my baby was taken away by some nut job. He was missing for two days. I came home to a family who blamed me for not being there.

Dom sat next to Kassie and put his arm around her; It was my fault Dom. Some sick bastard touched my baby and then left him to die. I should have been there. Dom held her while she cried; it was a release that she had needed for a long time now. I tried to carry on Mitch promised that he would try he would be faithful, but I had lost my baby and I couldnt function anymore, I just wanted to be with Riley, I tried more than once, she showed Dom the all too familiar scars in her wrists. He had seen them before but he never asked her what had happened. That was her business, then he asked, So you stayed with him after everything.

I didnt have anyone else, she replied defensively He told me the things I needed to hear, my own family blamed me I should have been more attentive to Mitchs needs and he wouldnt have cheated, I should have been home to look after Riley. You wouldnt understand Kassie was digging her nails into the palm of her hand.

Angel I'm on your side. It wasnt your fault and anyone who says otherwise is too far up there own ass. Dom explained Your not alone babe. I know that Sly was on your side. Thats why he tracked you down.

Sly is too stupid to know better. Kassie laughed

He may be stupid but at least he knows the truth when he sees it. Dom continued You were making a better life for your family.

I want to see him again. Kassie cried

You have that chance now, if you want it. You werent the one messing around. Dom reassured her If you like I will come with you

You would do that?

For you anything. Dom replied. But we have a problem. Do we do this before the vampires or after?

I put my job first before, thats not an issue now.

Well I guess we better call on your husband. Dom smiled

Dont call him that, I cant stand that man; he makes my skin crawl, even in a different time.

The pair had decided to go and confront Kassies personal Demons. They arrived at Mitchs home and looked on in disgust at the ridiculous display of wealth. They had just come from a slum and here only 10 minute drive away (if they were in there own time) was a house practically made of marble and the most ornate masonry they had ever seen. All of which seemed to be familiar, as did the Warehouse they had landed in earlier that day. A small old man who seemed out of place to be a servant answered the door. Dom looked at him surprised at his state; Kassie smiled at the little old man.

Oh the lady is back the lady is back. He let out in on breath and huge enthusiasm. He immediately ushered the pair into the foyer and the in a rush of excitement the front room was filled with servants and family members that were both familiar and unfamiliar to Kassie. There was one person that the pair did recognise and it was Sly. He looked at Kassie and smiled and hugged her a little disappointed that she was back, and then he gave Dom a look of dismay and confusion, it was obvious that he knew Dom.

My lady is finally home. Mitch announced with what seemed like mock joy. We must celebrate he then started to order the staff around yelling for them to get back to work. Kassie winced as her mother showed her attention that was entirely unusual for her in this and any other world. It was obviously she was chomping at the bit to see her son and after 10 minutes too much of the excessive fussing she was ready to explode. Luckily Dom intervened.

I think the Lady would like to see her son now. All he received were looks of distaste and contempt and hearing a few what would he know and the nerve of the man. Sly then spoke up for the first time, I think that Mr Monaghan is right. Come sister I will take you too him at once. Standing and offering her his arm he led Kassie and Dom into the nursery. With Mitch following behind he seethed as the entered.

Kassie took a deep breath and pushed through the door. She entered warily and scanned the room, full of toys that any young boy would enjoy, tucked away in the corner was a small day bed and sitting in front of it was the most beautiful site she had ever seen. A tiny almost 3 year old version of herself; the way his hair always fell in his playful green eyes, eyes that were always bright and alert showing every emotion. Then he turned and looked her way; not sure who the strange man was standing at his mothers side, but he didnt care; he beamed the brightest most beautiful smile anyone had ever seen on him, it was a smile he saved only for his mother. Kassie was lost in it she beamed back at her lost son, the child she hadnt seen alive in over 2years. Her eyes welled up with tears that were of the greatest pain and joy that only she could ever feel at seeing Riley again smiling and so full of life.

Mummy Riley bellowed as he suddenly launched himself at Kassie she knelt down and caught in a hug so full of delight and glory no one would ever know the feeling Kassie was feeling now.

Hello baby she sniffed

Wot wrong wif mummy? Rileys tiny two year old voice tried to over pronounce

Nothing sweetie mummy just missed you so much.

Where mummy goed? Riley eyed his mother with curiosity

Mummy had to go and see someone. Kassie was glad that this Riley was just as talkative as the one in her time.

Even in this time she had taught him well. When his mother answered he turned to look at the other people in the room. He looked at Sly and smiled briefly, then he turned to Dom with a questioning glance. Then he turned to his father and frowned with disapproval. Kassie and Dom not missing a thing about the stares. Then with out warning Riley turned to Dom Whos him?

Dom was taken aback a little although he shouldnt this was definitely Kassies son.

Thats my friend, Dom. Hes been looking after mummy Kassie replied

Mummy was wif bad man. Stated Riley very matter of factly. Eyeing Dom suspiciously now.

No darling I wasnt with the bad man. Kassie answered who told you that?

Riley didnt reply but his glance turned towards his father. Then back to Dom, he looked like he was sizing Dom up trying to see what he could make of him. Then he slipped out of his mothers arms onto the floor and walked over to Dom and offered him his tiny hand.

My namesis Riley.

Dom took the little boys hand and shook it Im Dom

I know Riley rolled his eyes My mummy just sayded that. Dom laughed

Riley thats not very nice. Kassie tried no to laugh as she scolded her son. But it was too difficult to scold him. They spent hours in that room with Riley. Kassie played with him read with him and sang to him and put him to bed. Dom watched and was allowed to join in on the odd occasion. Mitch seemed to seethe and left the room with a stomp soon after that Sly left with a satisfied look on his face. When Kassie just sat there and watched Riley sleep Dom finally slipped out. He found Sly standing in the landing at the top of the stairs.

What the hell are you doing back here? Sly whispered angrily

What are you talking about? Dom was taken aback

You were meant to stay away and I was going to bring Riley to you.

Look mate I have no idea what youre talking about.

Sly seemed angry and confused, Dominic we had a deal, you take my sister and I would join you later with the baby. I was going to bring him tomorrow I had it all planned.

Sly I have no idea what youre talking about. Dom stared at Kassies brother like he had two heads. We came here because he found her and she wanted to come here. Dom indicated to Mitch who they could see coming through the front door. Sly turned and looked in Mitchs direction, Bastards probably been with his whore again.

His what? Dom asked.

Ive told you this before, hes cheating on my sister thats why I told you to keep her away.

And how exactly do I know you and your sister? it was Slys turn to look confused.

You and she have known each other since you were young your father used to work with our animals and your mother was her nanny. Dom looked baffled, he asked himself if I have known them all my life and all theirs then why doesnt their family recognise me. He was about to go back in to tell Kassie his findings when Mitch stood in front of him.

I think that it is time you left. Mitch tried intimidating Dom

I dont know who you think you are but you dont scare me. Dom replied unfazed. I have been up against bigger things than you in my lifetime.

You have no idea the influence I have in this city. Mitch threatened

Well you dont know how much I dont care what influence you have, Mitch. Dom snarled. This was the guy in this time and in there owns that had and was cheating on Kassie and that didnt make a good impression on him, he promised her he would look after her. You mate are no threat to me or to Kassie or Riley and you never will be. And he walked back to the nursery.

Dom found Kassie still watching Riley. He stood behind her and touched her shoulder as her head leaned on the bed.

I dont know if I could leave him again Dom? It would be too hard,

Doll, You didnt leave him, he will always be with you. No matter where you go. Dom replied, then added But there are still things that we have to do.

Kassie sighed and slowly turned to her partner, I know Dom. He helped her to stand, But I dont think that I can.

Where in this together babe remember that. We have both decided that this is something that we have to do. We have to try and find out a way home as well.

Dom I need to think about this, I want to stay here the night. With my baby.

Dom understood that if she left again she would mourn her loss over again and there more she stayed there the harder it would for her to leave. One night Kass, your only going to make it harder on yourself.

Do you think I dont know that. She whispered angrily, But I just got him back you cant stop me from staying here.
She walked to the window and watched a carriage approach. Dom Im sorry but this is harder than you know

Im not going to pretend I know what youre going through but you and I know that it would be best for you, not to stay here too long.

Dom. She sniffed I cant do this any other way. I dont know whats going to happen tomorrow. We dont even know if we can get home or how we even got here. All I know is that I get to see my baby again and thats all I even want to care about right now. Dom turned her to him and held her Angel you know I will try and support what ever decision you make but we need to find some facts, and you are the one who knows how to find those. All I can say is that I will try and be your voice of reason, but I cant promise that you will like what I have to say. Just remember that no matter what time were in I love you.

Kassie didnt get the chance to respond they were interrupted by a knock on the door. Sly asked to see Dom in the hallway alone.

Theres a message here from your bar. Sly said strangely.

What is it? Dom asked anxiously.

The driver of the carriage was quite cryptic, he said; The master and mistress arrived back at the bar and there seems to be some confusion with his partner.

Who was the message from? Dom demanded

From someone named Sam. Dom began pacing the hallway. He had figured it out. They hadnt leapt into a body of this time they had just landed here at the right moment. There were some gaps that needed to be filled and the only people to answer that would be Victorian Dom and Kassie.

Whats going on what does that message mean? Sly asked the suddenly silent Dom

I think I might need your help. Dom said the asked, Will she be safe here the night?

Of course she will. This is her home. Mitch relies too much on the prestige of the house to try and harm her here.

Im still a little confused about all this but that will come clearer soon I hope. Dom replied We have to go now. Kassie will be useless tonight, shes injured and she has her mind elsewhere. Sly was about to defend his sisters honour at that statement.

Sly calm down, Kassie said from the doorway, Dom is right I'm not in my right mind to be thinking about anything but being here. She turned to Dom, Whats up?

I dont know yet but I'm going to find out. He replied taking her hands Im taking Sly with me and I will be back as soon as I can. Ok.

Cool. Be careful she smiled I cant be there to save your ass if anything goes wrong.

Ill try not to get in trouble. He smiled.

Be safe or Ill kick your ass. She pulled him into a hug

Im sure you will. Dom pulled away and walked down the stairs the waiting carriage.

Keep him safe Sly. She ordered her brother.

I will try Sly smiled following Dom nervously wondering what he was getting himself into.

On the way back to the pub Dom filled Sly in on what was going on. Sly seemed to think Dom was insane and was starting to wonder who he had entrusted his sister to.

I know I must sound like a nut job but when we get back to the pub you will see the truth.

If by nut job you mean a lunatic then you would have guessed rightly.

The scene at the Pub was the weirdest and most unrealistic thing ever. Vins men had begun delivering the stock he promised and Victorian Dom was standing there confused while Billy and Sam didnt know what was going on staring at a very different Dom and a completely different Kassie. This Dom had already complained about the boy being in the bar and Kassie hardly said a word. Dom ordered the carriage to move to the back entrance and he and Sly slipped in unnoticed in confusion. The special patrons of the bar seemed to be getting a little edgy as more people crowded the bar. Dom surveyed the room he got Sams attention and then told him to tell the human customers to leave for there own safety. He prepared Sly for the worst he then walked into the bar and suddenly the room was silent. His past self was lost for words, Kassies antecedent was ready to swoon. Billy was a little stunned but he seemed to have a look of understanding on his face. Dom ordered Sam to take Kasseopaea up into the room he and Kassie were in and said for not to come out unless he came to get them. The remaining customers saw this action and started to look restless at the leaving of their dinner and both Doms got nervous. When all had settled as well as it could Dom told his friends what was going to happen and they had to stop these things from getting upstairs to Kassie and the boy. Sly nodded, Dominic looked wary and Billy seemed like he just didnt believe a word he was saying. Then replied his accent strong and thick, I dont know if what your sayin is true but because youre my friend and gave a confused look to the double and shrugged resigning himself to the fact it was all going to be messy soon enough. It was then one of the Vampires came over to the group, I dont know what the hell is going on here, or what your twin here is up too pointing at future Dom But we better get what we came for.

Sorry mate shops shut for tonight. Dom replied stepping up to the vamp

Who says I was talkin to you?

Im sorry did you gentleman hear anything? Dom replied the leaned forward and whispered Leave now or be dusted. The vampire took some offence to that statement and put on the ugly face as Kass would put it. Now your going to die, and your twin here knows whos going to pay. And he made a grab for Dom. He stepped aside and the vampire fell full force to the floor where Dom poled a broken table leg through his chest.. His un-dead companions took this as there cue and launched separate attacks on the rest of his friends. Who although very amateur still very good in a fight, Sly stood his ground like a pro taking the first one easily and dusting him almost immediately, Billy took a little longer being started by the effect the stake to the chest did to one of his patrons. Dominic on the other hand may have had the reputation for being tough but he was avoiding the battle like the plague he fended off hits and punches and even the bites to the neck. You better kill him boy before he kills you first Dom yelled over the scuffle.

This made Dominic lose his concentration and was suddenly being held up against the wall by his opponent. Just as he was about to be drained of every last drop of blood in his body, there was a disturbance at the doorway and suddenly the vampire was turned to dust. Dom looked up to find Vin at the door with a crossbow in hand.

He then quickly reloaded and shot an attacker running towards the stairs and then another that was about to jump Billy.

It all ended within a matter of about 7 minutes although to some it seemed like forever.

Dom took a deep breath and turned too Vin, Thanks man, What are you doing here? Vin looked at Dom and almost snarled at him, You! I have been chasing you for months now. You knew my sister and now shes missing I know it was you.

Dont look at me mate, look at him. Pointing to his double, I've only been here a few hours. I want just as many explanations as you do. Dom then turned on his mirror image and waited for an answer, as were Billy and Sly.

I had to do it they have my family, they will turn them if I fight against them.

Well youve done it now and theres no turning back. Dom answered You lined up innocent girls, there is nothing heroic about that.

I didnt line up anything. Dominic rebutted I only let them use this as there safe house. Everyone in the room couldnt believe how nave he was being, Those girls were here but, they paid me to help them. They wanted to be away from their intrusive families. Its a changing world they want more respect and freedom I gave them there way out.

You expect me to believe that. Vin rampaged I want to know what you did to my sister. He now had Dominic up against the wall. Dom pulled Vin off him, Hes telling the truth.

And how do you know.

I just do. Dom looked at himself standing like a mirror in front of him. I just know.

Thank you. Dominic replied.

Its the truth Sly replied Kasseopaea and I heard what he did and I asked him to help us as well.

Well if thats the truth then where is she? Vin demanded.

Calm down Vin, If you help us Im sure we can come to an agreement about your sister. Dom spoke again getting exasperated with his temper.

Thats blackmail and its not going to work,

As I see it, you dont have a choice. Billy finally spoke up, You obviously have some fighting skill and with your help we can all get these strange events out of the way and you can be reunited with your sister. Although there must have been some reason that she ran away from you in the first place.

Vin stood and eyed al the men in the room. He knew Billy and Dominic they had done business with him for a few years they werent on the best of terms and after this event they were definitely not going to be on the best of terms especially after the days events. But this other Dominic seemed to know what was going on and he seemed far more familiar than the other. He had been aware of the demons on the premises that afternoon and tonight they seemed to be fighting like they were part of a team. Vin didnt like these rules he was always in control and with these new players in the game he didnt like the lack of control.

Dom watched as Vin thought through his options and knew that he was weighing up all the things that had happened since they had met that afternoon. He also knew that because of all the mystical events that afternoon there must be some kind of link between all of this and everyone else. He didnt know if this was real or a test of some kind but he knew that there was a reason that he and Kassie were sent here and he didnt think it was because of Riley. The Powers always had a reason and he knew that it wasnt always clear at first or at all.

We have to do something about your family. Sly spoke up, Those things will soon find out whats happened here.

Thats a good point. Dom answered, Do you know where they are? he turned on Dominic.

Yes I do. But I dont think its a good idea that we go there.

We will need to take Kasseopaea somewhere safe. Sly announced We can take her home easily enough But then what? he turned to Dom for help.

Its simple enough we have the element of surprise. Its simply get in and get out.

Just the five of us? Billy asked worried

I haven't agreed yet. Vin answered

Fine the 4 of us. Billy corrected

Dont worry about numbers Billy. Dom answered, We have enough skill amongst us to do a good job. But if I can
convince my Kassie to come she will help. Although I dont think its going to happen.

You cant expect that girl to come on such a venture. Vin argued She wouldnt last 2 seconds

Buddy you dont know my Kassie, Dom smiled knowing if she had heard that she would kick his ass on principal.

She could beat you even with her bad arm

Well if that is your decision then I suppose I will help. Vin finally agreed, But I think you should take the other young lady back home.

Sly and Dom went upstairs and collected Kasseopaea and Sam. They took both back to the Kasseopaeas home, much to her displeasure. There was no convincing Kassie to leave she knew that Dom could deal with the situation.

Stay safe Dom, I dont want to lose you here. Kassie said before Dom left giving him a hug.

I will sweets, I wouldnt leave you alone in this place. He smiled and gave her a hug, But in case anything does happen. Heres the address. He gave her a slip of paper and turned to leave. Kassie grabbed his hand and pulled him back and kissed Dom, with so much fear and longing that she whimpered as he pulled away. Dont make me come after you Dom. I couldnt do what you want me to do. She dropped his hands and went back into the house.

The five men left the Symes estate just before dawn, knowing they would have to travel a good part of the day to get to there locale. All where unaware of the situation, Dom refused to play down the situation but they didnt seem to see the real danger in it. Kassie had given him 3 days to get back to the estate, before she had to do something about it.

She knew it wouldnt happen Dom was always to careful for that, on the occasion that he did get to organise a mission he always made sure all the bases were covered. Thats exactly what he was trying to do, he made Dominic give him exact details of where they were going. And it was just as he had described a completely stone building with steps approaching the front door; it only had one other room that ran from the front room down to a basement through a long corridor and out the rear exit. Dom knew exactly what the layout of this building was he had been in one exactly like it.

He had guessed that this was the same as the first Vamp mission the Order had given them. When they arrived they were going to wait for a while to let the vampires who were pretty much fully fed to settle in for the day. Dom explained that he thought that these were different the vampires they had fought earlier they were more flesh and blood. He described the room and exactly what it would look like and Dominic seemed shocked. Dom set them in their places, the ally that the rear door opened into would be there only means of escape and they need it to be filled with sunlight and a man to cover it, and that was Vins job. Himself, Sly, Billy and his twin were all going to flush out the bad guys and get the hostages out , he didnt want to think about who the hostages were it might get too personal. It was then that Sam fell out of the luggage compartment in the back of the carriage.

Sam what are you doing here. Dom helped him up.

I came to help sir. I mean I can help in some way. Sam tried to make himself bigger so that Dom wouldnt send him away.

Alright Sam you go and find some Lamp oil. And then wait out here, I will come out as soon as we get everybody out.
You have to get everyone as far away as possible ok. Might as well use an oldie but a goody. He added to himself.

Vin positioned himself behind the building, and was to barricade it as well as he could. The others went to the front door, and Sly reached for the door handle. Like his sister he let out a yelp of pain and shock quickly pulling his hand away and vigorously started shaking her arm.

Nice to see you and your sister have the same traits. Dom smiled

Yeah its always been like that. Sly winced knowing that this was not going to be a good situation.

Dont try reading that stuff Dom noticed him looking at the script on the walls. Trust me. Sly looked at him and turned his attention back to the door.

Maybe I should get that too. Dom laughed.

Whats all this. Billy looked on confused.

Ill explain later. Dom replied and opened the door. It was like dejavu for Dom he had definitely been there before. The gloom he never thought he would experience again the unusual darkness invading their bodies through there senses.

This place is unnatural. Billy whispered.

Youve got that right. Dom turned and pushed Sam back out the door as he tried to look in. Lamp Oil Sam. Dom ordered.

Im going to guess they are all in back, and they moved through he building past the alter and slabs suspend to the ceiling.

Billy you need to get those down from there. He pointed

Billy started to look around for what ever it was that was holding them up.

Rose! Dominic yelled as he ran across the room causing everyone look in the direction that he ran. There sitting in the corner was a small child about 5 years old. She didnt seem at all scared of where she was and she didnt seem to recognise either Dom Rosie, its me Dominic. He turned and saw his mother and father although in there late 40s they still looked as fit and young as any could be considering their living arrangements.

Dom looked at the little girl he had never seen this girl before and realised that with all the similarities in this time there also had to be a number of differences; this young girl being one of them. He didnt know why the vampires had kept this child and the rest of the family alive but he knew that he had to get them out. He didnt know the connection between this time and their own but he thought that maybe it had something to do with his ancestry and he hoped he wasnt the one to mess it up.

Mum? Dad are you ok? Dominic stared into the eyes of his family and there was a glassy expression like the lights were on but no one was home. What have they done to them? Dominic turned to Dom and the others.
Dom and Billy approached the family and studied them. Dom looked at the slabs suspended from the ceiling and then back, We need to get these things down now. What ever keeps this place in darkness is also keeping them under its control.

Whats control? Sly asked.

What ever evil is in this house. Billy answered for Dom. Cant you feel it? It invades your very senses.

I know what you mean. Sly remarked the others just nodded.

Dom looked around the room and noted that the altar was still covered with blood and that the hallway behind it had that unreal glow.

Theres something different here. He scanned the room. I just dont know what it is. Lets get these guys out of here and then we can take care of the other business.

They helped Rosie and Dominics parents out the door where Sam was standing at the bottom of the stairs with a container of Lamp oil in hand. Also standing next to Sam was Vin.

What are you doing out here? Dom asked.

The back way is blocked there is no way that I can get in there.

I think we need you in there anyway. Dom replied Sam I have one other job for you. As Dom walked the family over to the carriage he made sure that it was well secure and he explained what he wanted Sam to do. The Men re-entered the building with an assortment of axes and hammers and Sam ran off in the direction that he had found the Lamp oil.

Its simple we get those dirty great slabs down and then we torch the place. Dom explained

So do you think that the danger here is that there is a different kind of Vampire than we have seen? Billy asked.

Exactly that and more Dom answered There are vamps like the ones at the bar, and then there are the other kind that I have seen that seem to be more flesh and take decapitation to kill. I dont know what these are. They may be Dust n Die Vamps or they could be something else lets not try and find out.

What have you sent Sam to do? Billy asked.

More Oil, We dont have much time, I dont care how you do it Smash the shit out of them just get these things down.

Dom indicated to the Slabs. Then with an almighty swing of an axe he struck the closest slab to him, there was a piercing ring in the room as the metal on stone reverberated.

Thats not good. Dom looked towards the back room hoping that the noise hadnt disturbed there sleeping friends.
There was no movement Get it done and fast before Sam gives the Signal.

Whats the signal? Dominic asked

Youll know. Dom replied Now get to it. I think your family will be ok once these are down.

The room was filled with the sounds of metal on wood and wood on metal.

What is holding these up? Vin asked himself.

Within a few minutes one of the slabs had cracked and started to sway.

Theres your answer. Billy pointed and there attached to the now descending stone was an intricate lattice of rope it all appeared to be attached. When the initial stone fell there was a unmerciful screech of pain from the room below.

Dom looked at the ropes and saw how they were connected. We need to find the rope that will cut them all down. Then he swung around and shot an arrow past Slys head striking an approaching vampire between the eyes. Sly gave him a grateful look and began searching for the rope. Dom hoped he was like Kassie then he would find the rope in no time.

Dom looked down the corridor and all he saw was a singular set of eyes glowing in the dimly lit passageway. He refocused his eyes to the room and saw not just the one set of eyes but at least 4 others peering back from the gloom, silver and menacing, hungry for the new blood they could smell. He looked at the rest of his crew and saw Sly searching for the right cord, Billy was taking to a slab with a sledgehammer. He had found in the front yard and his other self on top of the alter ready to make a flying leap at one of the slabs to cut it loose from the top.

Well the situation has become worse. Victorian Vin stood next to Dom watching the approaching eyes.

Not far from wrong there. Dom replied I need to set that room alight. Dom spoke mostly to himself, holding the Lamp oil his hand thinking about how he was going to get it in there. The last time he was in this situation he had Kassie there and he trusted her with his life, these guy; he couldnt trust as far as he could throw em not even the Victorian Dominic seemed a little dodgey.

Ill do it. Vin took the Oil from his hand and then started to tear away part of his shirt and began to dip it into the oil, with 8 strips doused he began to wrap then around his arrow tips.

You seem to know this place better than any of us here. Vin spoke You would know were its best to throw that.
Dom took the Oil and approached the corridor and although the creatures where near the centre of the hallway they hadnt and didnt look like they were going to move. He slowly walked closer to them with the lamp oil poised and his axe at the ready. They eyed him with curiosity like they had never seen a human before but there was still that blood lust in their eyes. Those glowing penetrating eyes, Dont look at them he heard a voice in his head say. He quickly glanced around and knew there was no one there, he was sure that he had heard someone. That was enough to freak anyone out and Dom especially he didnt hear voices or get vibey things that was his girls job, that was too weird for him he made a run at the vampires and then threw that oil into the lower room. One vampire surged forward he swung his axe throwing them both off balance, with Dom landing on the floor and hitting his head in the narrow passageway.

Get out of there. Vin yelled, through the ringing in Dom ears.

Light it up now. Dom yelled back struggling to get away from the now right vampire. SET IT ALIGHT! he ordered

DOWN. Was all he heard and he obeyed and just in the nick of time, there was a whizzing noise past his head and then suddenly the whoosh of Lamp Oil igniting in the antechamber. Then he heard it the screech of pain from the un dead. He had to get up but he couldnt the ringing in his head was too much, he could feel the presence of the vampires approaching him and forced himself to crawl back up the hallway. He looked out at his companions and saw them all panic stricken at the screams. It was like it was all in slow motion each one of the men struggling to get the slabs down with no effect, Sly searched the ceiling and walls for the one rope that held this puzzle together. Then suddenly there was a huge rumbling; that was the sign. The house heated up instantly, like a lit cigarette all four men stumbled on their feet.

Ive got it. Sly yelled and took a dagger from his belt and cut a lone length of twine as old as he building itself right inside the walls of the house like it was propping up the whole building.

Once again the shrieks of pain started and Dom form his vantage-point on the ground just wanted to escape the high pitch wail. He looked up to see the tablets fall like dominoes and his stood in shock.

GET OUT! Dom finally yelled NOW Billy, Sly, Vin and Dominic turned to see him on the floor trying to stand up. Billy ran to help him. Dom waved him off Im fine get your ass out of here.

Billy looked at him warily and started to leave the rays of the mid afternoon sun started to beam into this broken room and filled it with light and air and a breath of hope for any who were inside the burning building. Dom had no idea what charms or curses were on this place but he knew that this was the granddaddy of the house he had been in to with Kassie.

He finally got his footing his head ringing and made for the exit. He stood at the top of the stairs and saw the others heading for the carriage. Billy and Sly turned around to check were he was, he waved them off showing he was fine. He looked to his left and saw that Sam had done exactly what he had asked. He had put the barrel of Lamp oil right under the building, under a support strut. Which is what caused the rumble when it was lit, shaking the foundations of the building, that also helped with the slabs falling a little faster giving them a shake loose from their years of constraint. Dom quickly ran down the stairs and hoping to get away quickly before it turned to an inferno; He was a few steps from bottom step when there was an almighty explosion; throwing him about 7 feet from where he stood.

Ears ringing and head reeling, he had no idea what that was there was no gas mains here they hadnt been invented and they were to far out of the city to have oil reservoirs near by. He lay in the grass stunned and then darkness started to cloud his head. Wake up Dominic his eyes opened he heard that voice again. Get up. The voice ordered him, he slowly tried to sit up and saw that the house was now in ruins and that it was almost dusk the carriage was gone. He slowly stood and found that somehow he was now sitting amongst the trees just past where they had parked the carriage. Why would they leave me I was right there. In his confusion he started to get closer to the house.

Leave now Dominic. The voice ordered him again Who the hell is that? he yelled out loud.

Then he heard the approaching of a horse from the direction he had arrived. There on the horse was Kassie, Are you a sight for sore eyes. Dom smiled at his friend What the hell happened.

I could say the same dam thing to you. I thought I told you to be careful she scolded

I was. He defended he knew she was more worried than angry

Yeah thats why you told the kid to get as much oil as he could.

It was only a barrel.

Try 4 Dom. Theres a bloody warehouse full of the stuff through the trees. Theirs a little run-down farm. Kassie told him as she swung down off the horse.

That would explain the explosion.

Yes that would explain the explosion. Dam your lucky I came out here to help, those guys couldnt organise shit. Speaking about the other men.

Where are they? Dom asked leaning against the nearest tree.

I sent them back everything here is fine. I got here just in time to see you get thrown from the explosion. I pulled you away and hoped like hell you werent dead. She was pissed and Dom could see it.

So it was you telling me to get up then. Dom asked her.

I never told you to get up. I yelled at them to get out before the horse took off. Not that they listened and Sam feels so guilty.

Poor little guy, its not his fault at least it got rid of these guys. He nodded at the ruins.

Yeah well as it turns out, little prissy me has a very extensive library of the occult. I found some very interesting stuff about these guys. It seems that the cult started when some vampires wanted to be human again and be able to walk in the sun. It seems they found some rituals that would help that along but the problem was they would still be vampires and but drinking blood only saps their energy and not make them stronger. They become like vampire zombies the undead of the undead.

You found this all out in the what 30 minutes. Thats how long you would have stayed back before you left to look for us.

It was about an hour and prissy me told me all this. I like her she cool.

Kassie she is you of course you are going to like her. Dom wavered and tried to stay standing

Dont be a hero, Dom its only me sit down. Kassie moved over to him and sat next to him. I dont know what I would have done Dom. I sat in that house watching her with Riley and I realised that was her Riley not mine, he looked like mine and it was good to have him back for a little while but he wasnt mine. Kassie looked at her friend who smiled at her.

You are an amazing woman Kasseopaea Michaels. Dom leaned over and kissed her on the forehead.

We need to get home. Kassie smiled at his action and rested her head in his lap. Now that our Quantum Leap theory is all shot to hell.

I know there is still no reason as to why we are here or how we are here.

I think we came here to help our ancestors. Kassie explained I know that I was named after some little prissy from England who came to New Zealand with her family and her son married a native. She smiled.

Possibly, but you must get that mystical stuff from somewhere because Sly has it in this century,

Cool, she watched as Dom played with her hair. But this isnt getting us home.

I said good bye to him today. Kassie said randomly, Dom just smiled he knew she had made her peace and that she could finally move on with her life. The pair sat in that wood for almost two hours when it started to rain putting out the remaining fire. They made a quick dash to the old farmhouse for shelter. Perhaps we could use a spell or something to get us back to our own time? Dom suggested.

Maybe. Kassie replied, Why did you ask if I told you to get up.

Dom looked at his friend Because I heard someone tell me to get up, I also heard it tell me not to look in the vampires eyes.

Woah the books I read said that if you did while they in a frenzy you would be taken. Scary shit. Huh?

Youre telling me. Dom got up and walked over to Kassies chair You know chick I meant what I said back there dont you?

Back where? Kassie looked up at him

Back in the nursery.

I know Dom she dipped her head and looked at her feet. I have tried so hard to avoid it. I kept things from you to piss you off hoping you would forget about me, but it didnt work.

I know you better than that. Dom added

Youre still here and you know all my dirty little secrets. Kassie smiled more than Id like to admit.

More than is healthy. Dom laughed

I put you through so much. Kassie looked down ashamed again. I hurt you on purpose. With all the guys the partys everything.

I cant say it didnt hurt, but I knew you would always be back and I knew I know you. Dom told her.

Kassie stared at her friend no matter what she did or how stupid and drunk she got he was always there to help her up hold her hair back and be there for her.

You needed someone to be your friend and I was that and will be that for as long as you want me to be.

I dont want you to be my friend anymore Dom. She exploded frustrated not thinking.

Dom didnt know what to think, this random outburst in the middle of this conversation and after the day hed had was a little more than he could take.

Fine! he stated calmly, What ever you want Kassie, Miss do what ever I say can have it her way. he walked over to the door; I did everything you wanted me to. I watched you screw around with all those guys, I watched you go out with idiots completely beneath you, so now you dont want me to be your friend fine, once were back in our own time. Im gone. And he walked out the door, Kassie stared after him, she had opened her big fat mouth and he walked out.

Normally she would have said screw him he needs to harden up and left him outside to sulk, but this time she knew this was it the last time he was done waiting. She ran out the door and straight into his chest. Getting a loud oomph from the both of them.

What do you want.

Shut up Dominic, I am talking now and yes right now I am Miss do what ever I say and Im telling you to kiss me Dammit.

Stop fucking with me Kass Doms confusion showing through the hurt and anger.

Im not. She sighed I want to be with you Dom Im sick of the games we play and Im tired of feeling like I could lose you at anytime that I mess up. Ive always hated chicks that play all that shit and Im one of them.

God Dammit you piss me off. Dom stared down at her eyes full with tears of anger and hurt, You frustrate the crap outta me on the best of days.

Now that Im ready its too late. I took too long. Kassie answered I understand.

Dom stared at her in disbelief, You heard me? That night that Krystal left. You heard me. Kassie nodded her head.

And youre sure? Dom asked Kassie shrugged

I'm never sure of anything, you know me. But what the hell would I do without you, Id go crazy. I care for you too much to hurt you anymore, and I hate it when you cry. Her own eyes welled up, I guess the L word has reared its ugly head.

Are you sure? Dom asked again

No, but I need to move on.

Bigger and better things? Dom questioned

Says you Kassie smiled

Absolutely Dom smiled at her, Yknow that L still hasnt appeared.

And I didnt get what I wanted. She responded.

Dom pulled her to him gently, You can have whatever you want. And he gently kissed her, his lips felt like smooth velvet against her own, she felt her entire body tingle with warmth and joy. He slowly ran his tongue across her lips. He gently pulled away and then kissed her gently again.

Dom, she almost pleaded, hoping he wouldnt stop he pulled back and looked at her, Its alright Angel I know.

Then from out of no where there was a flash of lightening, causing them both to jump, waiting for the thunder, then the lightening struck again this time hitting a nearby tree. Then the strange balls of coloured light appeared ripping the air above them, the cracking wind pulled at everything again. This time before they could do or say or scream anything, all that was left in 1889 was a ramshackle farmhouse and a young boy named Sam with a smile on his face, who had come back to see if the master and mistress were alright.
