God blesses America because of our Christian Foundation

The United States of America is the only nation on earth that is founded on Christian faith and principles as evidenced by the charters of our Founding Fathers.

The Mayflower Compact

"In the name of God, Amen. ……….Having undertaken for the Glory of God, and Advancement of the Christian Faith, and the Honour of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia; do by these presents, solemnly and mutually in the Presence of God and one of another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil Body Politick, for our better Ordering and Preservation, and Furtherance of the Ends aforesaid; And by Virtue hereof to enact, constitute, and frame, such just and equal Laws, Ordinances, Acts, Constitutions and Offices, from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the General good of the Colony; unto which we promise all due submission and obedience. God blesses America because of our Christian Heritage

The Pilgrims and the Puritans

The Pilgrims were English people who sought to escape the religious controversies, persecutions and economic problems of their time by emigrating to America.  Many were members of a Puritan sect known as Separatists that believed in the separation of the Church and state.  They were opposed to keeping man-made religious festivals such as Christmas, Easter, Halloween, etc.  They kept the Sabbath.  Their belief in the purity of religious principles set them apart as Puritans. They believed that the Bible was God's true law, and that it provided a plan for living.  The moral character of England and America were shaped in part by their words and actions. Against great odds, they courageously made the famous 1620 voyage and founded the first New England colony in America. 

The Pentecostal Movement

The Pentecostal movement is by far the largest and most important religious movement to originate in the United States of America. Beginning in 1901 with only a handful of students in a Bible School in Topeka, Kansas, the number of Pentecostals increased steadily throughout the world during the Twentieth Century until by 1993 they had become the largest family of Protestants in the world. With over 200 million members designated as denominational Pentecostals, this group surpassed the Orthodox churches as the second largest denominational family of Christians, surpassed only by the Roman Catholics. In addition to these "Classical denominational Pentecostals," there were over 200 million "Charismatic" Pentecostals in the mainline denominations and independent charismatic churches, both Catholic and Protestant, which placed the number of both Pentecostals and Charismatics at well over 420,000,000 persons in 1993.

The Apostolic Oneness Pentecostal Movement

The beginning of the Apostolic Oneness Pentecostal Movement can be traced to the Pentecostal-Holiness Camp Meeting held in Arroyo Seco, California in April 1913 when the truth of baptism in Jesus name (Acts 2:38) was first revealed.  This movement though glorious; sadly reveals that many contentions and strife have crept in amongst the brethren.  The United Pentecostal Church was formed in October 1916, when a large group of ministers withdrew from the Assemblies of God over the doctrinal issues of theology and baptism. 

The Apostolic World Christian Fellowship, founded in 1970, is a world-wide alliance consisting of those who adhere to the apostle's doctrine in word and practice. The directive for this fellowship is provided by the Scriptures that emphasize a unity for God's people. Presently, more than 161 Apostolic organizations have agreed to work together for the common cause, the continuation of the message of the Apostles which started on the day of Pentecost, A.D. 33.  They have 12,500 ministers and 3.2 million lay people world wide. 

The Seventh Day Sabbath Movement

The modern seventh day Sabbath movement although has its infancy in England but it flourished in America.  The Seventh Day Baptists date their origin with the mid-17th century separatist movement in England.  The Seventh-Day Adventist Church traces its roots back to an American preacher named William Miller (1782-1849).  At the end of 1998 they had 44,888 churches in the world field, followed by 44,298 companies and a world Church membership of 10,163,414.  Their total Baptisms for the year 1998 were 818,754. An average of 4.5 churches have been established every day since their Global Mission began 1998.

The Bible Sabbath Association, a non-denominational organization, has its beginnings in late 1943 when a few Sabbath-keepers of various beliefs and affiliations came together.  Its main purposes are to promote fellowship and cooperation between Sabbath-keepers of various groups and to restore respect and honor for the Ten Commandments as a whole, with special emphasis on the Fourth, which has been forgotten by most of the world.

The Messianic Judaism Movement


One of the most significant religious movements that is now taking place in the United States of America is Messianic Judaism.  Before 1970 the Jews that believe Yeshua (Jesus) as their Messiah would join a mainline Christian church.  They are called Hebrew Christians.  You could not tell the difference between the Gentile Christians and them.  Since 1970 Messianic Judaism have replaced the "Hebrew Christian" movement.  It represented a decision to form "Messianic synagogues" that were not part of historic Protestant denominations, but were free to be Jewish congregations maintaining a Jewish calendar and life-style as they recognized Yeshua as the Messiah.  Since Israel is presently resisting the Messianic Jewish movement and there are more Jews in America than in Israel, Messianic Judaism continues to grow exponentially in this country.  It is truly a fulfillment of prophetic Scriptures in the End Time. (Rom. 9:27-28; 11:25-27; Rev. 7:1-8)

God blesses America because she blesses Israel

It is not a coincidence that America is a blessed nation.  America is one nation under God, the cradle, nursery, school, university and workplace of Christian men and women that help to propagate the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ throughout the world.  It is also the only nation that stands by Israel in very trying times.

Since its independence in 1948, Israel has enjoyed a special relationship with the United States, as successive administrations have reaffirmed America's unshakable commitment to Israel's security.  Ties between the countries go back to the 1940s, when the United States pressured Britain and the United Nations to partition Palestine and create a Jewish homeland. Six minutes after Israel became a nation on May 14, 1948, the United States of America became the first country to recognize it.

Reasons for American support ranged from horror at the Holocaust and a penchant for rooting for the underdog to a desire to have a stable democracy in a volatile region.  The United States also wanted a strategically situated military partner in the event of a global conflict.  America has a very special relationship with Israel.  Is there a biblical explanation for this phenomenon?

To understand this special relationship between America and Israel we need to study the covenant that God made with Abraham that has three blessings.

The universal aspects of the covenant are threefold:

1.    National    “I will make you a great nation” – Israel – (Gen. 12:2; Dt. 7:6-9)

2.    Personal   “I will bless you and make your name great.” (Gen. 12: 2)

3.     Universal – I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you;

                          And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Gen. 12:3).

1.    Blessings for those people and nations that bless Abraham and the nation that comes from him - Israel. 

2.    Cursings upon those people and nations that curse Abraham and Israel; and

3.    Blessings upon all the families of the earth through the Messiah, who, according to the flesh, is Abraham’s son and provides salvation of the entire world.

The nation of Israel is clearly spelt out in the Holy Bible but what about America?  Can we find any reference in the Scriptures concerning Israel’s relationship with America? 

An American Christian once wrote to me in the Forum that he believes the eagle in Revelation 12:14 represents the United States of America.  At that time I did not dispute with him but I had reservations about his interpretation.  He quoted Exodus 19:4, "You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagle's wings and brought you to Myself."  He wrote that since God had delivered Israel in the past through an eagle, and He is also doing the same to present day Israel through America.  His interpretation of "the woman who gave birth to the male Child" as Israel which is the birth place of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Rev. 12:14)  It is interesting to note that the bald eagle is the national bird of America.
