GOA Reds Spring Six-A-Side Festival, 2001
The hangar tournament was a complete success. The competition was very good and the level play was very high.
The GOA women's team won in the final against their arch rival Toronto F.H.C. by a score of 1-0. The goal scorer was Michelle Colaco, the tournament MVP for the women. The game was very close with both sides having their chances to score. Toronto FHC was without their star forward Becky Price, but still put on a good fight to the end. The whole GOA team played very well with stong defense to good possessional play.
The men's division was a little tighter. Both semi finals proved to go down to the wire with Toronto FHC beating Toronto Lions in strokes and GOA Reds edging out Brampton FHC 5-4. So it was left with these two teams, GOA and Toronto FHC. The game started and within 15 seconds, GOA took the lead with some nice passing and a a goal from Ken Pereira. It was from there GOA did not look back to make the final score 8-5. Ken Pereira was also named MVP for the men's division.
