The final was fast paced with lots of wonderful passing plays and good
execution of set pieces. We scored about 6-8 corners, and the rest of the
goals came from field play. EVERYONE, (except the goalies) got on the score
sheet. The highlight of the final was John DeSouza scoring a goal with his
signature move faking the goalie one way and walking the ball the other over
the ball in the net from the base line. Another highlight was Darren
Demello scoring 11 goals in one game.
A bright spot for GOA Reds field hockey was young Calvin D'Souza (15 years
old), playing in only his second tournament with the senior team, really
played well and stepped up his game keeping the team in the game with key
saves at key points in the game.
