Game StoryCHICAGO (Ticker) -- Odalis Perez's injury concerns may be a thing of the past. Perez worked into the seventh inning and Steve Finley knocked in three runs as the Los Angeles Dodgers pulled away for an 8-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Making his third start since missing over a month with an inflamed left rotator cuff, Perez (6-4) limited the Cubs to one run and six hits in 6 2/3 innings. He walked two and struck out two. "I didn't really have my best stuff," Perez said. "But I was able to keep the ball down and make those guys swing the bats. I got some fly balls and ground balls and was able to get out of some big innings they had." Perez is 2-0 since returning from the disabled list, allowing just two runs over 19 2/3 innings. "He's pitching right now with a lot of the same intensity that we saw him pitch a couple of years ago, when he and Hideo (Nomo), at that time were our main cogs in the rotation," Dodgers manager Jim Tracy said. "That's the face I see, that's the focus I see." "He's been getting everybody out all year," Finley said. "Facing him as an opponent and now playing behind him, I think he's given up one run in three starts now. He keeps the ball down and changes speeds." The recently acquired Finley delivered an RBI single in the sixth off Greg Maddux, snapping a 1-1 tie. He also had a two-run base hit in a six-run ninth when the Dodgers put the game out of reach. Milton Bradley added three hits and two RBI for the Dodgers (68-46), who moved a season-high 22 games over .500. Maddux (11-8), who was making his first start since becoming the 22nd pitcher in baseball history to win 300 games, gave up two runs and eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. "Sometimes you've got to tip your cap to the other guy," Maddux said. "Odalis pitched a great game today. He mixed his pitches well, had us off-balance. I just got outpitched." Moises Alou had two hits and an RBI for Chicago, which fell to 1-3 on a six-game homestand. "The ninth inning was a nightmare with a couple of errors," Cubs manager Dusty Baker said. "Once you start making mistakes, a feeding frenzy starts and every ball they hit starts finding some holes. It just really got away from us in the ninth."
