Game StoryCHICAGO (Ticker) -- The game only lasted 5 1/2 innings, but it was long enough for Greg Maddux to gain revenge and his 296th win. Maddux allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings and Rey Ordonez belted a two-run homer as the Chicago Cubs beat the Chicago White Sox, 4-2, in a rain-shortened contest at Wrigley Field. Last Sunday, Maddux gave up a season-high nine runs and 11 hits in four innings to the White Sox. The four-time Cy Young Award winner bounced back Saturday, limiting the Cubs' "Windy City" rivals to five hits and one walk while striking out three. "Last week, I didn't feel like I threw that bad, I really didn't," Maddux said. "I mean, you can look at the linescore and say it was terrible, but they just hit me. I thought I made a lot of good pitches that they ended up getting hits on. And, today I thought I made some bad pitches that they hit at people." Mike Wuertz got the final two outs in the top of the sixth inning for what turned out to be his first major league save when the game was called. Todd Walker led off the first with a triple and Ordonez smacked a pitch from White Sox rookie Felix Diaz (1-2) over the left-center field wall for his first homer since June 8, 2003 against the New York Yankees while with Tampa Bay. One out later, Moises Alou added his 19th home run for a 3-0 lead. Sammy Sosa contributed his 14th home run - a solo shot - in the fifth, before the contest was delayed by rain for a fourth and final time for 77 minutes. The field was deemed unplayable and the game was stopped after a total of 3 hours and 2 minutes of delays. "I believe that they made the right call because that field was awful," Sosa said. "We played great for six innings. That was perfect." White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen agreed with the decision of home plate umpire and crew chief Charlie Reliford. "You couldn't even walk on that field, let alone play on it," Guillen said. "You hate to lose a rain-shortened game, but losing players on the disabled list would be worse." The Cubs have won three in a row overall and six of their last seven at home. Diaz, who earned his first major league win last week against the Cubs, gave up three runs and six hits in four innings. He struck out six and walked one. The White Sox scored their only runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Jose Valentin and a sacrifice fly by Timo Perez.
