Game StoryCHICAGO (Ticker) -- Sammy Sosa hit a pair of homers, but the Chicago White Sox pounded Greg Maddux and won the rubber game of the "Windy City" series. Paul Konerko, who hit three-run homers in each of the first two games of the series, drove in three runs again to lead the White Sox to a 9-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Konerko had a bases-loaded, two-run single in the first inning and added a sacrifice fly in the third against Maddux (6-6). "He's (Konerko's) swinging the bat real well," White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said. "Having Magglio (Ordonez) out of the lineup means someone has got to step up, and he did." But it was Timo Perez who provided the big blow, snapping a 4-4 tie with a two-run homer off Maddux in the third. Maddux lasted four innings and surrendered nine runs - seven earned - and 11 hits. "Tip your hat, they got me," Maddux said. "I didn't like I threw that many pitches over the plate. But the ones I did they didn't miss. Tip your hat and move on." Known for his pinpoint control, Maddux gave up a single to Aaron Rowand and then walked Frank Thomas and Carlos Lee to load the bases before Konerko's two-out single in the first inning. "He (Maddux) was up in the zone," Cubs manager Dusty Baker said. "I was hoping he would find his stuff because the bullpen was short today. I just wanted him to keep them down and give us a chance to get in the game." Sosa hit his 11th and 12th homers of the season in his first two at-bats against Esteban Loaiza (7-3). Sosa led off the second inning with a 454-foot drive over the center field wall for his 550th career homer and added a two-run shot in the third, giving the Cubs a 4-3 lead. "I had a good day today, but I want to go back and play right field," Sosa said after serving as the designated hitter and hitting his first homer in nine games since coming off the disabled list. Loaiza left the game in the seventh inning after yielding 10 hits. Cliff Politte and Damaso Marte combined to pitch three hitless innings in relief. Along with celebrating a series victory over their cross-town rivals, the White Sox also acquired coveted starting pitcher Freddy Garcia from the Seattle Mariners in a five-player deal. "We were happy to win and then we found out we got Freddy Garcia," said Konerko, who went 6-for-10 with nine RBI in the series. "That's a big move for us. He is a quality starting pitcher. He is one of the best out there." However, the White Sox parted with catcher Miguel Olivo, who hit a solo homer in the second inning to snap a 2-2 tie, along with two minor leaguers for Garcia and catcher Ben Davis.
