Game StoryMILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- While Greg Maddux reached another milestone, counterpart Wayne Franklin gave up a third of a mile worth of homers. Maddux pitched six scoreless innings for his 284th career win and the Atlanta Braves battered Franklin for four of their five homers in a 10-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. Marcus Giles and Andruw Jones each homered twice and Julio Franco also connected for the Braves (74-39), who averted their second three-game losing streak of the season. Maddux (11-8) won his fifth straight decision and moved past Jim Kaat into 27th place on the all-time victory list. He continues to march toward his 16th consecutive season with 15 wins, which would give him sole possession of a record he shares with Cy Young. The crafty righthander allowed six hits and a walk while striking out five, departing with a 10-0 lead. Jason Marquis, Jung Bong and Roberto Hernandez finished up. Since the 1991 All-Star break, Maddux is 134-4 when he receives five or more runs of support. It took the Braves 11 batters to provide that cushion for the four-time Cy Young Award winner. Giles hit a 420-foot homer and Jones belted a 390-foot shot in a three-run first. Giles hit another 390-foot blast in a three-run second and Franco hit one 415 feet in the third. That's 1,615 feet of homers allowed by Franklin (7-9), who gave up seven runs, six hits and two walks. The Brewers have allowed the most home runs in the major leagues.
