Game StoryATLANTA (Ticker) -- After Orlando Cabrera barely missed a potential double play grounder, Rocky Biddle did not miss Javy Lopez. Then, Biddle missed the strike zone. Lopez was hit by a pitch to force in the tying run and Rafael Furcal worked out a bases-loaded walk to score the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Atlanta Braves rallied for a 3-2 triumph over the Montreal Expos. Montreal took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the ninth and gave the ball to Biddle, who was 22-for-25 in save situations. Chipper Jones led off with a single, but Andruw Jones fouled out on a 3-0 pitch. Robert Fick hit a grounder up the middle that ticked off the bottom of Cabrera's glove for an error that put runners at the corners. "That's a game we should have won. We should have been in the clubhouse on the ground ball," Expos manager Frank Robinson said. "We're just not making routine plays. I don't know what it is - maybe a lack of concentration." Biddle (3-3) walked Vinny Castilla, then hit Lopez above the left elbow with a 1-0 pitch. Marcus Giles struck out, but Furcal battled back from an 0-2 count, fouled off one full-count offering, then walked to force in Fick. "I was going to the plate with a lot of patience," Furcal said. "I was looking for a pitch right down the middle." "Just trying to get him to hit the ball on the ground to somebody. I sure as hell wasn't trying to walk him," Biddle explained. "It (stinks). No, there isn't (a worse way to lose). That's the way it goes." The unorthodox rally made a winner of rookie Jung Bong (6-1), who gave up a hit and a walk in the top of the ninth but retired Brad Wilkerson on a groundout to end the inning. With six wins, Bong is tied for third on the team with Greg Maddux, who made just two mistakes in seven efficient innings. The four-time Cy Young Award winner surrendered back-to-back homers in the fourth to Cabrera and Wilkerson among six hits, throwing just 64 pitches. "I kind of think it's normal," Braves pitching coach Leo Mazzone said of Maddux. "He's never been a high pitch count guy. ... He's doing fine. He's got a lot of innings left." Montreal's Javier Vazquez blanked Atlanta until the fourth, when Furcal led off with an infield hit, Mark DeRosa singled and Gary Sheffield walked to load the bases. But the righthander limited the damage by retiring Chipper Jones on a sacrifice fly and getting Fick to bounce into a double play around a walk to Andruw Jones. Vazquez yielded just one run and two hits with two walks and five strikeouts in five innings. He did not come back after a 67-minute rain delay. "I didn't control it, the rain did," he said. "It's tough. I asked (pitching coach) Randy St. Claire, he said that was it. I didn't complain or anything. I am 26 years old. I don't want to blow my arm out." T.J. Tucker, Scott Stewart and Julio Manon combined on three scoreless innings until Biddle came on in the ninth. "No, I want seven or eight innings out of my pitchers," Robinson said. "He left with the lead, but with our ballclub, you just can't expose our bullpen that long. They've been out there an awful lot."
