The start of Guns N' Roses long awaited first North American tour in 9 years hit an unexpected delay in Vancouver, Canada. With the support band CKY and DJ waiting Axl Rose failed to show at the same time as his band mates. He called the organisers at the GM place to inform them he was running late because of weather problems preventing his plane from taking off. The organisers then "jumped the gun" and cancelled the show 1 1/2 hours before the show was due to begin, causing a minor riot outside where around 10,000 fans waited in the cold and rain. Police waded in with attack dogs, pepper spray and Battons in a heavy handed show of power. The disturbance ended without any serious casualties but left many fans with a bitter taste about the "no-show" of Rose. |
