September 30, 2003 Re: A letter from the GNO-ARMA President Dear Chapter Members: I am so sorry that I had to miss our September meeting. I heard we had a large turn out and other than the "technical" difficulty the meeting was a great success. Thank you again to Mr. Leon Miller for his presentation!!! I hope all of you will be visiting the archives at Tulane University in the near future. What a wonderful asset to our city. My reason for missing our meeting is that I had to attend a Hyland software Corporation end user conference in Orlando, Florida. Of particular interest to you may be the fact that Hyland is currently in the development phase of a new RIM module. The contact for this Records and Information Management module is Mr. Jim Simler. He is very interested in talking with Records and Information managers to glean their perspective on what is of paramount importance to you; or rather what a RIM would want to see in a new product that has been unavailable in the past. If you would be interested in participating in this process please give Jim a call at 440-788-5244 or you can e-mail him at Jim.Simler@onbase.com. Hyland will be participating at the International conference in Boston. If you plan to go to Boston for the conference please look Jim up in the Hyland booth. On August 28 several of our members attended the ARMA Web conference on the topic of Researching Retention References-the Easy Way. A good time was had by all!! Your Board may investigate more of these in the future. Have you invited your boss to attend the annual Bosses luncheon on Oct. 15? Susan Avery of ARMA International is our guest speaker. This is an opportunity for you to show your boss how important your ARMA membership is to the company. PLEASE COME OUT TO JOIN US!! We need your support in this endeavor. For more information on this event please contact Danielle Honor at 985-783-5000 ext. 259 or you can register online at http://www.geocities.com/gno_arma Please help me. I am interested in noting the certifications our chapter members hold. If you posses a PhD, Master's Degree, Bachelor's degree, CRM, CDIA, or any other relevant certification please let me know so that you can be counted. I need this info. ASAP as I want to present the information at our Bosses luncheon. Mark you calendar NOW for the upcoming Nov. 19th meeting at the Old Ursuline Convent. Dr. Nolan and Gaylane have planned a wonderful outing for us. For those of you that were not aware, our friend Barbara Jacobs is in recovery from surgery. We heard that she is doing well, and we pray that she is completely healed and "up and at 'em" really soon. Don't' forget to go VOTE OCTOBER 4!!! WILL YOU BE THE ONE TO WIN THE TRIP TO THE BEACH NEXT SPRING? GET ON THE PHONE AND INVITE YOUR BUSINESS FRIENDS TO JOIN US FOR OUR MONTHLY MEETINGS!!!! I am wishing you a most Blessed day and will see you on October 15!!! Kathryn Smith, CDIA
