I began this journey in January, 1944 I didn't know too much, but I'd sure learn more I had Papa and Mama, and a sister, Arlene These were the people upon whom I'd lean
Now folks came to visit regularly, you see These were my grandparents, who'd come to me They each left their heartprints upon my soul that day They were each so special in their own little way |

Now they taught me so much about God above They also showed me how to laugh and love Molding me into the person I am today I sure am grateful God sent them my way
Now they've each gone through the Eastern Gate I know that they're up there as they patiently wait Some day I'll join them in His victory Won't they be glad again to see me |

Now I've got memories that I still recall You know that I've always loved y'all Life wasn't easy, nor was it grand Yet, you, my dear hearts, certainly do understand
My life has moved on, with my sons and Cowboy They are my life, as they bring me such joy I've been a mother, and also a wife I've truly no regrets in this my life |
