BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Enzymes are special proteins that have the ability to speed up chemical reactions. They are called catalysts. Enzymes are responsible for the breakdown of various substances in the body. Enzymes have a special property that allows them to be re-used, some times up to a thousand times. They are marvels of biological efficiency.
MATERIALS NEEDED: Glue, construction paper, tape, an empty, clean box, bottle, or aerosol can of household cleaning agent, paper, and a little imagination.
WHAT TO DO: You may work independently or in pairs (2�s). Create a design for a new household cleaner that uses the power of enzymes to power out dirt and grime. In addition to your product you need to create a commercial in order to market your new scientific-breakthrough cleaner. Commercials will be acted out in class, and the commercial voted best in the class will receive an additional 20 points worth of extra credit. You must hand in a neat, final copy of your script, a description of your product, and a sample of it. Bottles may be filled with colored water to simulate a cleaning agent. DO NOT BRING IN A CLEANING SOLUTION!!!!!!!
