BI-ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

SUNDAY, 25 SEPTEMBER 2005

VESTRY HALL, 336 LONDON ROAD, MITCHAM, SURREY

5pm � 7pm

ATTENDEES:       11 members       

APOLOGIES:       20 members

The Chairman, Alfred Rebello, opened the meeting by welcoming everyone and thanking them for making the effort to attend. 

He then gave them his report for the past two years. This was followed by the report from Joao Paulo Cota, the Music Coordinator.

The Treasurer, Kerwin Fernandes, then submitted separate audited financial statements for the period ending 31 March 2004 and 31 March 2005.

 The meeting then proceeded with the election of the Executive Committee. 

The results are as follows:

It was agreed:

1.       that the role of Music Coordinator will continue to be filled by Joao Paulo Cota but other musicians

would be sought to help him when the need arose. 

This was actively being followed up and Joao Paulo would audition any interested parties.

2.       A sub-committee would be formed to include a Dance Coordinator and a Youth Coordinator in both

 the North and in the South.  Gregg Carvalho will assist with the coordination in the North. 

3.       a good idea to promote:

               a.       traditional Goan dance classes

             b.       Konkani language for children

The committee will seek tutors for the above and arrange for classes to be held at the Vestry Hall on Sunday evenings.

There will then be advertisements placed in our leading Goan forums and publications.

               The meeting ended in a healthy, encouraging and happy note.  Refreshments were served.
