The process of elections
of the GMS Committee 1999/2000
Nominations forms were distributed to members for
completion.
The nominees were then asked if they wanted to stand for
office in various posts.
The following members were then elected to the GMS
governing body:
Chairman: Rene Barreto. Proposed by: Cipriano Fernandes
Seconded by: Joao Paulo Cota
General Secretary: Anita Rebello. Proposed by: Paulo
Colaco Dias Seconded by: Elma Cota
Assistant Secretary: Elma Cota. Proposed by: Rene Barreto
Seconded by: Cipriano Fernandes
Treasurer: Kerwin Fernandes. Proposed by: Norman Cortez
Seconded by: Marilia de Souza
Publicity Officer: Cipriano Fernandes. Proposed by: Elma
Cota Seconded by: Anita Rebello
Programmes Director: Joao Paulo Cota. Proposed by: Rene
Barreto Seconded by: Marilia de Souza
All officers above were elected by confidential vote from
all GMS members present.
The following executive Members were then appointed by the
new elected committee:
Executive Member: Paulo Colaco Dias. Proposed by: Alfred
Rebello Seconded by: Cipriano Fernandes
Executive Member: Alfred Rebello. Proposed by: Errol Lobo
Seconded by: Rene Barreto
Executive Member: Norman Cortez. Proposed by: Marilia de

Executive Member: Bernadette Pereira Dias. Proposed by:
Rene Barreto Seconded by: Adolfo Saldanha
Mr A Saldanha was asked if he would accept an honorary
post as assistant to the Programmes Director.
He accepted and was therefore appointed. It was agreed
that Office bearers would be in office until
December 2000 as this would minimise costs involved in
running elections for the current GMS membership of 51.
