Flight testing systems is more than just placing a box on an aircraft, crossing your fingers and turning it on. That's where the 413th Flight Test Squadron comes in. They provide test and evaluation capability for electronic warfare systems. The 413th acts as the responsible test organization (RTO) or participating test organization (PTO) to plan, provision for, and execute worldwide ground and flight tests of electronic warfare systems and equipment. To this end, they acquire, operate, and maintain deployable EW test instrumentation systems for EW test support.
We have two specialty aircraft at our disposal. The first is the NT-39 Sabreliner. It is a low wing, twin-jet monoplane with axial-flow enigines mounted on each side of the aft fuselage. The flight station and cabin compartments are pressurized and soundproofed for comfortable high or low altitude flight. The GPS with P-code provides extremely accurate navigation and position recording that can be downloaded in ASCII format for time and position data collection.
We have three NT-39's, each with the versatility to support many multi-faceted missions, with same day response for short notice taskings. We can modify the aircraft to meet your specifications and there is ample room in the cabin for equipment and test operators.
The NT-39 is an excellent platform for photo/safety chase, radar testing, ECM testing and avionics testing. It can fly up to altitudes of 45,000 feet at up to 350 knots. It has a 1600 nautical mile range with four hours of endurance. It comes complete with MIL-STD 1553 and ARINC 429 buses, VOR, ILS, MLS, TACAN, INS, UHF, VHF, weather/ground map radar, external pod carriage capability (ECM, IRCM, etc), hi-power internal ECM, and an optical window for airborne photography.
