But what makes Dave Bowling such an integral part of the franchise? Is it the Oakley sunglasses he wears, even for night games? Is it the tight Under Armor shirts he so nicely fills out? Is it the appearance of a cancer stricken patient? Is it the unexplainable power surge towards the end of the fall season leading many to speculate he was on some sort of human growth hormone? Maybe we�ll never know, but one thing is for sure, he sure looks damn good in striped pants!
During the 2006 season(s), a joke was roaming thru the clubhouse that Dave might struggle to bat his weight by the end of the season. �Ha ha ha we all know Dave only weighs about a buck 50, hell, even Adam can hit .150�! And the jokes kept coming. Dave always smiles and just nods his head with that Ted Kazinski kind of look. But as the season went along, it became apparent that Dave might want to go on a diet and lose some weight, because his batting average was working its way down to his level! As it turned out, Dave turned it on near the end of the Fall 2006 campaign and he ended up around Darrin�s weight, at .317.
All jokes aside, Dave is the epitome of what a GMO softball player is meant to be. He is as reliable as they come (although he let his wife keep him from attending the 2006 team party because she was afraid he would over eat), he never complains other than not being able to find a size 28 waist pant, and he is as positive as they come. Some may say his skills have diminished over the years (and who�s hasn�t as they age!), but Dave claims he just tries to hold back a little so to not outshine the other members of �the big three�. Says Dave, �those other two have all sorts of issues. One is struggling with weight and anger issues and the other has a bum hammy along with arms that restrict much lateral movement. If I were to go full boar, I�m afraid I would make these two look silly and then many would question why I even associate with them�. See, like I said, Dave Bowling, a real stand-up guy and true friend. Thanks Dave for all your years of service and many more to come!
