| Ecc: 3:1 & 7 "there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven" (7) " a time to tear, and a time to mend, a time to be silent, and a time to speak." There was a member of a certain church , who was attending dilignetly, and when certain problems came upon him, he stopped attending. He was a single man and led a quiet life, and kept to himself alone. The Pastor knew the man, and after several weeks, decided to pay the man a visit. It was a damp, rainy and cold evening. The Pastor found the man all alone, just sitting infront of a roaring fireplace . The man welcomed him and knowing the reason for his visit, pointed him to a comfortable chair by the fireplace, and waited for him to begin to ask him why he had not been to church. The Pastor just sat there making himself comfortable, just staring at the fire. Neither man said a word. After several minutes, the Pastor took the fireplace tongs, and picked up one of the brightly glowing embers and put it off to the side all by itself. He then just set back and watched. Both men just set there watching, and said nothing. They both were watching as the embers flame flickered and slowly began to diminish, there was a momentary glow, and then its fire began to go out. Soon its fire was no more, it was cold and dead. Not a word had been spoken since the initial greeting. The Pastor glanced at his watch, and choose this time to leave. He slowly stood up, picked up the cold, dead ember and placed it back in the middle of the fire. It began to glow once again quickly, with the light and warmth of the other embers around it. As the Pastor reached the door to leave, his host said with tears running down his face, "thank you so much for you fiery sermon, I will be back in church next Sunday". Sometimes the best thing to say is nothing at all, and let your actions speak for you, or let the Holy Spirit speak to their hearts Hebrews 10:25 "Let us not give up meeting together, as some of you are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see that the Day of the Lord is approaching" |
