I got to the front and discovered the venue had changed a bit since I saw Travis there a few months ago. The stage had been put up higher and the bands had been pushed to the middle of the stage so you could only see half their bodies but I tried to make the most of it.
Idlewild came out and went in to a song I can't remember then in to 'You Held The World In Your Arms' one of my favorite songs of the year, I don't know what was wrong with Roddy maybe he had a sore throat or was missing Bob because he didn't say much through the set only a few thankyou's. The were energetic and it reminded me of performances of Blur in their good days, the only thing was they sung my most hated song of the year 'American English' but I suppose they had to.
Next Coldplay were on and they played a new song and then 'Shiver'. Most of the set was stuff from their first album and some of the new album but it was nice to hear songs I didn't think they would play. Chris was pretty funny during the gig talking about how great it was to be in the home of Fatboy Slim and at the end of a song sung a bit of Fatboy Slim. The crowd seemed really thrilled by the fact Coldplay were playing and sung every song to it's loadest which added to the good atmosphere.
It was one of those gigs which if you didn't go to you probably wouldn't have been that devistated but it was a good night out.
