Angelica

Date: 16/8/01
Venue:The Free Butt
Support: Lamina

This was to be my first gig in a year and I was looking forward to it a lot as I heard a lot about the band from my friend. I went with no idea what the band would sound like only with the idea that it was four girls with attitude.
We arrived, met the band and entered the venue at eight where we found a small stage round the back of the pub and sang along to the cure which was playing in the back ground.
Lamina were first on and it was a rather unpleasent experience as the loud shouting was very much out of tune and the guitars seemed like they needed tunning up quite badly. Although the songs were cathchy they did end up sounding the same so no surprize of a great song during the set.
Angelica emerged from the back room and set up their own instruments with some of the crew during which time a guitar was dropped and broken. But the girls still carried on with the set as normal. The played a couple of songs from the previous album but most songs were from the new album 'Seven Year Itch' which were enjoyed by the adience of 8 people which was the smallest gig I've ever been to.
I went away from the gig pleased that I had a last found a good band who were female and could actually play their instruments as good as some mainstream bands around today. I'm glad the girls have managed to gather a loyal following throughout the seven years they had been together as a group and hope the some day get more respected as a fantastic girl rock band.
