Kings Fire Murray

GM Coggs has made no bones about it. He has publicly blasted the team, publicly blasted Superstar Center Mats Sundin. Yesterday, he fired Head Coach Andy Murray and hired Mike Keenan to run the Kings bench.

"Mike comes with a reputation of knowing how to light a fire under a player's ass. Especially those who are underachieving."

Coggs held a meeting with his players after the press conference and told them they would be the next to go. "I'm not George Steinbrenner", Coggs said. "I will not have a coaching carousel in here. I've assured Mike he has the rest of this season and all of next season. If the players aren't getting done, I'll shake things up with them."

The Kings won their first game under Keenan, 4-1 over league leading Boston. Mattias Norstrom, Steve Avery, Wayne Primeau, and Anton Volchenkov scored for the Kings. Niko Dimitrakos had two assists and Olaf Kolzig made 20 saves.
