Frolov Sent to Ottawa

Los Angeles-  GM Coggs took a huge gamble today by moving 24 year-old budding superstar Alexander Frolov.  Frolov was sent to the Ottawa Senators.  Coming to to LA are defensemen Anton Volchenkov and Rob Davison, along with forwards Ryan Malone and Brett Clouthier.  Coggs also sent defenseman Nathan Dempsey and a 2nd round pick to Ottawa.

Coggs said via conference call, "I'll admit, it was a hard decision to move Frolov.  He is going to be a superstar in this league.  However, we needed some youth.  We received three players in their mid-20's.  With 7
UFA's at the end of the season, 3 in our defense corps, when Ottawa offered these 2 young d-man, I had to take it.  Don't forget, Malone is no stiff up front.  He has 5 goals this season and will be a steady force for us in the coming years.  Brett Clouthier gives us a little depth down the middle.  He will be sent to Manchester, but knows he will get a shot at the big club when we need to make a call-up."

What is of greater concern to Coggs is the club's recent snag.  After winning 3 of their first four games, the club has dropped three straight, being outscored 15-8.  "I'm not happy about it, that's for sure.  It is a long season, we are going to go through a few tough stretches.  That doesn't mean it is acceptable, just something we need to fight through.  Kolzig will be getting the next two starts, and we will play it by ear for the game against
New Jersey."
