ZONE GYMNASTICS COMMISSION
MEETING
MINUTES - September 2006
Attendance: Colleen Eckel, Chairperson; Molly Riley, Mike Looker and Trish Huffman, NE; Rhonda Miller and Casey Koenig, NW; Kim Gerbowski, Jen Nichols, SE; Debbie Comstock, Denise Brunck and Peggy Hoffman, SW. Lori Gross, special guest.
Colleen Eckel called the meeting to order at 10:33 am.
Financial Report:
The financial report showed a treasury balance of
$4,726.53.
Zone Representatives and Assignment of Duties:
All Zone Committee Representatives were reminded of the duties they are responsible for in their own networks. The following duties can be found on page 4 of the constitution: 1. Information gathering - By December 1st, send the Zone President names, correct addresses and phone numbers of participating Y’s, coaches, and a professional contact person at each Y in that network. 2. Information disbursement - getting Zone minutes and other information out to all network teams. 3. Act as a Network liaison - bring any matters causing concern in our network to the attention of the Zone Committee. Only bring concerns that are relevant to Zone business.

Review Team Numbers From All Networks:
We received participation numbers from most networks. Colleen will compile the results and Molly will email it to the Zone Committee members.
Bids For The 2006-07 Zone Championship Meets:
Livonia YMCA in Michigan sent in a bid to host the Level 5 & 6 zone meet on April 21 – 22, the Zone Committee reviewed it. The Blue Ash & Powel Crosley YMCA was at the zone meeting to present their bid for Level 5 thru 9. They had a great presentation and a motion was made by Casey Koenig to except their bid and Debbie Comstock seconded it. Motion passed. The Level 5 thru 9 Zone Championship Meet will be at the Fairfield high school (Cincinnati area) on April 21-22.
Review Petitions:
The Zone Committee reviewed the petitions and recommendations were given. Each team will be notified of the decisions within the next weeks.
Review Forms and Fee Policies:
The proper forms are located in your constitution or the Zone web site for your 2006-07 rosters. Please complete your roster as follows: 1. Please type your roster or write legibly. 2. Separate each sheet by levels. 3. List each gymnast by age level (all cadets, then preps, then Jrs. & then Srs.). 4. Have your roster signed by your Executive Director. 5. Make sure all birth dates and membership expiration dates are correct. All forms and $3.00 per gymnast must be given to each network tracker. After the network tracker has checked all forms, send one check along with all forms, to Colleen Eckel, North Canton YMCA Gymnastics Center, 7241 Whipple Ave., North Canton, OH 44720 by Dec. 1st. Make your checks payable to the Great Lakes Zone Gymnastics Treasury.
Other New Business:
There have been some high school rules changes. They will be discussed at a rules interpretation meeting. Check the OHSAA website for one closest to you. See attachment.

The Toledo Gymcats will be hosting a Frog Town 4’s invitational meet on February 17th. Look for more information in the mail.
