Level 4 Zone Meet for
2006-07 Season:
Zone Committee
Members brought feedback from our network teams on this subject. After much discussion on this topic, the Zone
Committee decided not to introduce a Level 4 Zone meet at this time. Some of the drawbacks were,
available weekends and meet host. It was
also brought up that we think about taking the Level 6-9 Zone Meet and
splitting it into two smaller more manageable meets. It seems to be too big for teams to handle
and teams are having a hard time finding a location to host this meet.

Can We
Some of the southern
teams had strong feelings against doing this because they score the High School
Meets much differently than the YMCA meets.
They are judged by different rules.
The committee suggested that as long as you get one Y meet in and still
have these problems, you would need to petition the Zone Committee.
Other New Business:
One of the teams
from the Southeast area would like to try a Prep Optional level for the
gymnasts who have competed for more than 2 year at a compulsory level. It was suggested they try a pilot program and
USAG has a model program they can go off of.
The Northwest area
is having some problems with the Defiance YMCA.
One team in their network had 2 level 4’s that received 36.00 AA and
they never moved them up a level. At this
point the network will be handling this issue.
A motion was made to
reimburse Debbie Comstock in the amount of $238.76 for her expenses she
incurred last summer when she taught the new routine clinic.
We will be looking
into doing a summer upper level-spotting clinic. More information will coming on this subject.
