| 06-16-01 Hello All, The weather here has been good. More rain than usual for this time of year, but we needed it. Temperature generally in the upper 60s to low 70s during the day, 40 to 50 at night. All the wild flowers are in bloom, it is really beautiful. But with everything in bloom also means lots of pollen! Lorelei and Adam have been especially affected this year. They have been miserable. The pollen counts should start to drop over the next few weeks. The strawberries are ripening, we picked several bowls full this past week, with plenty more on the plants, they are sooooo good! The rest of the garden is coming along, we will be thinning the carrots this weekend (yum). The raspberries are ripening, we should be eating those in a few weeks. Other projects, we moved Codys' "dig spot" over near his slide. This moves it from right in front of the new sliding glass door in the master bedroom. We will be clearing a spot for him a swing set (we have a friend who bought a house up the road that has a swing set out in front. He said that we can have it!) I am trying to get the big red wagon that we pull behind the quad and the mower, painted and back together. It was one of my winter projects that has almost gone into the summer! We use the wagon for chores and fun. Last week I had to haul 3, 50 pound bags of salt for the water filter up to the pump house in the wheelbarrow. I said, "that's it, we are going to finish the wagon". We have had quite the "flurry" of animal stuff happening. Our friend up the hill got 4 new sheep, he was gone for a couple of days and I said that I would look in on them. Jon, Cody and I went over. Everything was OK and Cody loved the sheep. Jon asked how long they live. I said that I wasn't sure what the maximum life span of a sheep was, but I was pretty sure these would live no more than a year. He looked puzzled, and I explained where lamb chops come from! Adam has been checking his shoes before he puts them on, seems that a frog has taken a liking to his tennies. Cody and I saw a gray squirrel last weekend, that is the first one I have seen on our property. The wild bunnies have been spotted up on the road. The next door neighbor has acquired a very boisterous goat to go along with his donkey. Jon came running in last weekend saying there was a dead something out on the lawn. I went and looked, and it was a newborn lamb! The dog must have drug it in from somewhere. The boys are out of school! Their last day was Wednesday. They woke up Wednesday morning and realized they had done nothing for their teachers. They usually buy them a box of chocolates or something. They hurried around, Lorelei found some thank you cards. She told the boys she would drive them to school, this meant they had an extra 45 minutes since they did not have to catch the bus. They went out and picked beautiful bouquets of flowers. They also took fresh eggs and strawberries to their teachers. Cody will be 3 this next week! We have been careful about talking about his birthday because every time we mention it he wants his birthday cake that day! We got him a tricycle. It is one with big tires that is supposed to travel over rough ground. This thing is heavy! My beautiful wife is now walking 5 miles a day on her treadmill! She is out of control. She likes her new sliding glass door. She can more easily get outside now. And Cody likes to play out in the area where we can see him from the new door. That's about it for now! Glynn Jr. |
