| Hello All, It has been a busy couple of weeks. Now that soccer is over I thought things would settle down. NOT. Adams' science project took up a lot of time. He was chosen (one of 14 projects from his school) to go to the county regional science fair. That meant getting his project home doing some more research and getting it back to McMinville the next week. I will try and post some pictures and some of his text on the website. He got a blue ribbon at the county science fair (I am not sure what that means, there were a lot of blue ribbons). He had a great time and learned a lot! Adam was also part of a group from his school (3 boys and about 6 girls) that formed a choir. Their leader was one of the high school seniors and this was her senior project, to form and direct a choir. Adam announced one day that he had a solo part in one of the songs they were going to sing. I said "Adam I didn't even know you could sing". Anyway the kids sang their little hearts out and it was really quite pleasant, Adam has a good voice! He obviously got that from his mom! Adam is still playing the piano daily. His entire fifth grade class goes to eastern Oregon for 4 days in a couple of weeks. They call it outdoor school. Adam goes to the regional spelling b next week. Jonathan is doing well. He has been doing "survival swim" this past week. The school takes the entire third grade class in intervals and throws them into the community pool in McMinville fully clothed! If they can swim to the side, then they get to be kids for the rest of the time, jump off of the diving board etc. Hey that's my tax dollars at work! They have added a subject, it is now Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, and Swimming! Cody is fine, he and Lorelei are spending more time outside. He loves the chickens and the ducks! He seems to be treating them better. I think he realizes that when their eyes start to cross and their bodies go limp, that he is holding them too tight. The baby chicks are getting bigger, but they can still get out of the chicken yard. Cody wanders off and finds them and is somehow able to catch them, this is a feat that is difficult for the older kids and adults! He also tracks down, picks up and carries around the big white duck! Again, I have seen 11 year olds that were unable to catch her! He told his mom that he wanted to bring them inside! The weather has been good, although I got up on Thursday and there was ice on the car windshield! All the windows were open in the house, and it was down right nippy! The boys and I worked on the new firepit last weekend. We cooked hotdogs last Sunday and also last night over the campfire. Plenty of other projects going on outside. That's about it for now. |
