Hello All!

Well I seem to be in a bind and way behind! Sorry for the lapse in updating stuff. Lots of stuff going on. After a mild February, March and April so far have been wet and cold! We had some nice weather last weekend and then this week has been back to the rain. On the plus side, the creek is still flowing and there is plenty of water in the pond, the ducks and the frogs are happy for that.

In animal news, we lost our male Blue Swedish (duck) to a predator. The remaining female Blue Swedish and female Runner Louise will soon be joined by three new additions. We got the ducklings about 5 weeks ago, and they are almost full grown, they are too big for the brooder, but it has been too cold to let them out much. Hopefully this next week will warm up. The new animal shelter is nearly complete. It just needs some paint and some touch ups. It has a stall for the dogs to curl up in, yes I said dogs (plural) more on that in a moment. There is an attached pen for the ducks to be put in at night to protect them. Inside there is storage for feed and tools. Now back to the dogs. A few weeks ago this adorable Black Lab puppy shows up. We have asked, called, and posted in the paper with no luck in finding the owner. It is up to him now if he stays or goes. So far he has apparently learned that the ducks are not to be chased or chomped! Shack the cat was out of sorts for a couple of weeks, but has since put Wyatt in his place. Buddy the king of fetch has been putting up with Wyatts playful wrestling. We have had to chain Wyatt up when the boys go to the bus stop, it seems Wyatt loves the walk up the hill with the boys, but then he gets distracted and decides not to come home! He stops by the neighbors at the end of the road (who apparently dont need or want another dog) until they call and the boys go up to get him. Lorelei says she does not want another call about the dog being at the neighbors! Now the last hurdle Wyatt faces is chewing things in the mud room! We are currently giving him chewing 101 lessons. We will see what happens. If he grows into his feet, I will need a part time job to feed him! The chickens are fine and giving us plenty of fresh eggs.

Adam and Jon are doing great in school. The regional Chess tournament was in February and Adam and his team went to the state finals again this year. The team did well (in the top 10) and Adam won 2 tied 1 and lost 2 in the individuals tournament. Jon is playing soccer this spring. His old team is back together this year and they are undefeated so far. Adam finished up Basketball in the winter and just started Track last week. Their first meet is Monday. Cody is doing great. He is learning to read with computer games and plays a mean game of chess for a 4 year old!

Lorelei is still fighting insomnia and sinus problems. We stopped heating with wood about 6 weeks ago to see if that would help. We think maybe we have some mold issues in this old manufactured home. In addition to part time subbing for the school district, she has started watching a 10 month old boy part time. All that, along with us 4 yahoos, keeps her pretty busy. She will be singing in the Easter choir again this year.

Other projects, the pump house is framed and the roof is on. Now we just need some siding, piping, electrical and .., hmmm I guess its not as close to completion as I thought! We planted some more trees this year. The fruit trees are blooming, the grass is out of control, weeds are popping up everywhere, oh how I love springtime! I need to get the garden planted, luckily I did not plant it last weekend, because we had a dusting of snow Wednesday night! That was good planning on my part dont you think?

We went to the Coast last weekend for the night. I will try and post some pictures on the website next week. I will give you all a heads up when it is updated. Drop us a line when you can. We always enjoy hearing from everyone!
