All proceeds from this tournament will go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's program for children Soccer Kicks for Cancer in memory of Ursula Veit (65 yrs young), who lost the battle with Leukemia in October 2006. Ursula played soccer in our league for nearly 30 years, and was an original GLWSL board member in 1977.
Her team "The Shooting Stars," are known thoughout the Midwest as hard and fair competitors and have competed successfully in the Region II Tournament of Champions and recently in the National Veteran's Cup in Hawaii.
Ursula was inducted in the "Michigan Soccer Association" Hall of Fame October 13, 2006. She will surely be missed this Soccerfest, but we know her spirit and strengh will be with us on the soccer field this summer.
